Pineapple

im craving it and it is sitting in my stomach and making me happy. But apparently it is not a good idea. What's the deal? How much is too much? I found a can of pineapple in my pantry, is it safe to eat it all or should I let DH eat it?

Re: Pineapple

  • I've never heard pineapple being bad when pregnant. I'm curious now though, I have one sitting on my counter I've been drooling over.

  • Are you concerned about the OWT that pineapple can help induce labor?  Because I can assure you, when I was late to deliver both of my kids I ate my weight in pineapple and it didn't do a thing.  Enjoy your snack! ;)

  • Fresh pineapple is what supposedly induces labor and that's like ten pineapples at once. Enjoy!

  • Plus the stuff in pinnacle that supposedly induces labor is in the core. You have to like eat a bunch of pinnacle core and not the normal part.
  • Thanks ladies! This makes me feel so much better!

  • Pineapple enthusiast over here. No signs of labor!
  • I've been craving pineapple and eating it like crazy. I don't think I know anyone who was able to induce labor with pimneaple anyway.

  • yeah.. it didn't help me go into labor last time (I was 40+10 days when I delivered.. I was not trying to induce early at all). Just an old wive's tale.. or as others have said, would be ridiculous quantities.

I know UNripe papaya is abortive. My SIL found out on the hard way. She used to eat them every morning and she likes it ripe. She lost 2 babies and when  she found the info online about papaya she asked her Dr. He did a research and confirmed. Years later I received some materials from Cigna and they were talking about avoiding papaya.
    I don't know about pineapple.

I had to edit: UNRIPE PAPAYA (when it is green, not orange) is dangerous. (english drives me crazy sometimes! I thought ripe was when it is green yet! I am sorry for the miscommunication )
