STMs: boobs after breastfeeding?

I get that it might vary from person to person but I am just wondering if there is any chance of my boobs going back to normal? My husband is really sad that my boobs no longer "bounce" but "swing" instead, which of course in turn makes me sad. Are they ever going to not be so floppy? Like maybe once I stop bfing and my milk dries up??

  • I have friends who say no. They don't go back unless you have surgery. If that's not an option you can always just go to push-up bras.
  • They will unfortunately not go back. It's usually genetic. Some woman breastfeed and still have perky boobs, others not so much. I'm a TTM and have breastfed all three.

Mine did not go back after bfing my first.

They remained bigger in size but the best I can describe them is deflated. I was nice to have them back when I was pregnant.
  • Hell, your boobs could even get smaller after breastfeeding. Friend of mine went from a B cup before to an A cup afterwards. You've grown and are now feeding a human - things won't be going back to "normal" but you can have a "new normal" and I hope your husband is on board.
  • I understand what you're saying. Its normal for your husband to feel that way as long as he still loves you regardless of course lol. I am sad myself as I've also been told they don't go back and I freakin loved my boobs, lol.
  • I don't remember what I was reading but I did come across an article that said BFing doesn't actually make your boobs less perky long term per the research, but smoking will. It was from a decent source, I do remember checking the credibility of the source.
  • I'm pregnant with my fourth (from F16). I EBF all 3 of my children. My Breasts are not the same. But I wouldn't say its a bad thing. They're not as perky but they're not sagging. Just not as high as when I was a teen, if that makes sense lol. My husband loves my breasts. Pregnancy and/or breastfeeding can change your chest. But that's a sacrifice we make as for the rest of our body when carrying a child. I think you need to talk to your husband. He seems to have more of an issue than you yourself. Be proud of your beautiful body after baby.
  • Hell atleast your boobs maybe the same size! I have a perky one and slightly saggy one. DH just laughs at me. Look on the bright side.

I had breast augmentation before pregnancy and I am wondering how this will be post breast feeding because I have heard from all too many people that theirs are like sand bags or deflated balloons. So we will see but I was an A before my surgery, C after. I am in a D now with breast feeding. But I am hoping it'll be fairly close to pre pregnancy (aside from the few damn stretch marks). But I'm with these ladies tell your husband to suck it. Women sure get all the side effects from child bearing! He should love all your imperfections because they gave him a perfect child.

I do fully support breast augmentation and doing whatever you want/need to make YOU feel better about yourself (not for a man) if that is an option after breast feeding!
  • @dmendo01 I also have breast implants. I went from an A to a full D. With breastfeeding I am a DD. I honestly don't care if my boobs are a little hangy after I'm finished breastfeeding. Fortunately for me my husband likes all boobs he is not picky. I don't care if mine look perfect or not I'm just thankful for the opportunity to breastfeed my LO.

Well, crap. I had an A cup before how much smaller could they get?  :D
  • It's not breastfeeding, it's pregnancy. I remember having "induction sex" and thinking...wow, my boobs got floppier.
