Let's hear them!

My best baby hack so far has been my "homemade baby monitor" - I have motion monitors but we hadn't hooked up our traditional monitor yet.. mostly because Olive still sleeps in our room so we hadn't seen the need.

Recently when she was asleep by our bed and my husband was out of the house, I had to go downstairs for awhile, leaving her alone. Rather than try to set up the monitor and risk waking the beast, I simply called my work phone from my personal phone. I put the work phone on speaker, my phone on mute and carried my phone downstairs. I could hear everything, even hear her snoring.

Many people don't have two cell phones but you can use a home phone for this. You can also use a disconnected cell phone with a call-over-wifi service like Magic Jack. It's a great solution also when traveling.

My aunt taught me to squish my son's cheeks together to get him to take his medicine. Works great!

I wouldn't say this is really a hack, just more strategic on my part. Often times, DS will unload a good one for DH or I about 3/4 of the way through his bottle. Instead of letting him finish the bottle and then us getting him all nice and pissed off when we go and change him. (Even after getting a clean fanny, he still gets so upset during diaper changes 4/5 times). I put the bottle down and change him right then, so that if he does end up in a crying fit after the diaper change, he still has about half an ounce to 3/4 ounce of his milk left, which is just enough to get him back into that nice milk coma again and sleep enough so that we can put him down to sleep again.
