Getting a Breast Pump from A Grandfathered Insurance Plan

Has anyone had any success getting a breast pump covered by a grandfathered insurance plan? What did you have to do to get it covered?

I had a grandfathered plan with my first DD (thank goodness we switched carriers before this one was born) and they would only cover $50. Best thing to do is call and ask.
  • I had a grandfathered plan, flat out no pump coverage. I paid for mine with some FSA money. Pump and accessories like storage bags and spare parts are all eligible.

  • Whether or not insurance covers it, you can claim your pump and any BF supplies including nursing bras on your taxes as medical expenses.
  • I have a grandfathered insurance plan, no coverage at all with breast pump. I found one on craigslist new. still in box and plastic wrapped for like $100.
