So I've been wondering where we all fall on LP length. No real reason; mostly I'm just curious :)

Re: What is your LP length?

  • I voted "Less than 10" because it was 9 days for three months in a row. But of course last month it was 13. I'm calling that a fluke until more data this cycle.
  • I put less than 10 because it has been about 9 days lately.  After I got my period after my first baby, I had three cycles before I got pregnant.  They where 7,6, and 8.  After my second baby they were 9, 9, 11, 10.  Then after my miscarriage, they have been 9 days.  I am hoping it will start getting a day or two longer.
    My TTC History:
    2009: missed miscarriage #1 at 9 weeks (trisomy 16)
    2010: Infertility
2011: Diagnosis and treatment (low sperm count, anastrozole for DH, clomid for me + IUI)
    2012: Baby #1
    2014: Baby #2
October 2015: missed miscarriage #2 at 11 weeks (trisomy 22)
    March 2016 BFP#5, due November 2016.

  • Mine has varied from 10-12 days (once it was 14 days but I was taking clomid that cycle, which is pretty typical). 11 is average for me though.

FF says mine is 14, but it's been 13 every month except 1. I don't understand lol

I mean, it should really vary that much (unless you are breastfeeding?). It may be possible that you're not accurately identifying ovulation. LPs are usually pretty consistent from cycle to cycle (within a day or two). Can you link your ch

I've tried linking my charts but can never figure it out... I go to the "share your chart" page on FF but can never get it to work. Let me try screenshots.

Here's my most recent chart (9 day LP)

Here's December (14 day LP) (left my thermometer in another state during holiday travels at the end there)

Here's November, I was traveling on a few days so I needed to wake up way before my normal time, I usually leave this one out of my statistics.

Crosshairs usually go from solid to dotted during my LP because I usually get some fertile cm during that time.

ETA: I also have charts from July and September (August and October I was traveling too much in so many different time zones to chart). July was 10 days and September was 14. But that's a lot of screenshots so let me know what you think of these 3!

  • @PennStateCait   Your temps are pretty rocky, so it's a little hard to pinpoint ovulation based on temps, but it looks like your chart with the 14 day LP could be off. It's possible you ovulated on CD 21, which would give you an 11 day LP and that makes more sense with your other charts.

Hmm I definitely like this theory. I didn't continue taking OPKs after that positive one on CD18 that month. Can OPKs really be that off?

eta: Yeah, my temps are super rocky/erratic. I am a mouth breather. I can't bring myself to vaginally temp though.

Sometimes you can get an OPK surge and not ovulate until much later. You might have seen another surge if you had kept using them, but I don't personally use OPKs so idk for sure.
  • My LP has been 16 and 15 days the past 2 cycles so I just went with 15.

  • I average 11, though I've had as few as 8 and as many as 12.
  • @PennStateCait  Is it possible for this last cycle that you could have ovulated around CD14?  Just looking at the big rise after that, do you know if anything happened with temping on CD18 that could have caused a fluke drop?  I know that wouldn't line up with the OPKs though, but what OPKs are you using?
  • I said it varies. My LP was consistently 14 days. Since my MC it has been 11/12 days

  • I put 13 days but my last cycle it was 12. It's funny, I O'd a day later than normal last cycle too so I was expecting my cycle to be 29 days instead of 28. Turns out my body would rather have a 28 day cycle than keep the 13 day LP. Whatever floats your boat body!

Agreed. Vaginal temping makes my charts look pretty  :p
  • I've only been tracking my cycle for one cycle, so last month I believe it was 11. I've been taking vitamin B6 which seems to have helped increase my LP.
  • We've got a real nice bell curve going on for this poll. It looks so beautiful :)
  • It had been pretty consistently 13, but then this cycle it was 15.
