Infertility

Timeline question

Alright ladies. I'm scheduled to start stims for my first IVF cycle on 02/15 (my birthday so hoping that is a good sign!) and according to my calendar have a tentative ER 2/27 and then fresh transfer the first week of March. I know that date can and probably will fluctuate based on my response to meds.

My question/ delemia is that my sister is throwing my mom a surprise birthday party the weekend of March 19 and I would have to fly. Do you think that's far enough out that I would be done with the transfer, even if it ended up being delayed by a few days from the schedule? Also any deterrents to flying during the TWW?

Im planning on emailing my nurse Monday just to make sure but wanted to start looking at flights this weekend just to see if financially I'm able to swing it. My mom does know we are doing IVF so if I'm not there I'm sure she would understand but I'd really like to go if I'm able to.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!

Re: Timeline question

  • I know lots of people have IVF out of town and travel by air home following the transfer, so I wouldn't think it would be a problem. If you're starting stims on the 15th, I can't imagine any situation that would push the ET that late in March. I'd ask the doc about flying, but I've heard it's fine!

  • I agree with @2015dee. You shouldn't have ER pushed too much farther than maybe the 10th of March (which even that seems like a way long time to stim), which would still be a 15th transfer if your clinic does day 5 embryos.

  • My doc didn't want me to fly for at least a few days after transfer. Sounds like your timeline should be fine. ☺️

  • Definitely let your RE know your dates that you are traveling or away.  I had a few days I wasn't available and my RE worked around those dates to come up with a good timeline.  Be sure to be upfront with your dates so your RE can help create a schedule for your ivf that works for both of you (and your body).
  • Hi! I agree with the ladies above, talk to your RE and tell her about the dates. Because of the medication they can move things around a bit.
About flying, I flew home right after all my treatments, here they believe it doesn't do any harm.
But ive noticed on this forum that we all get quite some different advice about what is ok and what isn't ok after our treatments that I would go with what your RE says.
GL and happy soon to be birthday
