Painful cramps

This is my first pregnancy so I have no idea what I'm feeling half the time and could use some help. A little background: i was admitted to L and D a few weeks ago and ended up getting a shot to stop contractions (I couldnt feel them at all). I'm 34 weeks 2 days and starting yesterday afternoon I started having really bad period like cramps with sudden naseau. Then again twice this morning. If I get up and move it seems to go away. Are those braxton hicks? I have noticed in previous weeks my belly will get really hard, but without pain, which I've assumed have been BH. Is it normal for braxton hicks to get painful towards the end of pregnancy? Anyone have similar experiences or advice?

Re: Painful cramps

  • I have had a similar issue. My belly would get really tight I would have lower back pain and cramping. When I went to my doctors office and they did an nst I was having contractions and didn't notice. They were irregular and I was not dilated so he was not worried. Just said he would check again at my next appoinment. I have gone weekly since 30 weeks( 35 now) for being high risk. I still get them but can now tell they are very random and irregular after watching the rest and comparing that to what I was feeling at the same time. They have not become stronger or regular. My advice is that this is normal and completely scary as this is my first as well. But if it makes you feel better then call your doctor or go to your L&D. Even if it is nothing don't be afraid or embarrassed. I like to hear others opinions but sometimes I don't relax or feel better till I go in just to make sure because you never know it could start and nothing and later become true labor especially if you can't tell. I went to L&D 3 weeks straight because I just wasn't sure and I wanted to be safe. Hope everything is ok(im sure it's just a mother being worried!) I completely understand that!

  • I've had BH constantly since week 20. They have definitely gotten more painful towards the end. I've had a few so painful, they woke me up. I've been checked out and seems it's normal.
  • I would definately call your ob. Braxton Hicks do get more painful the further you get. With you having a history of havingcontractions and even if the shot stopped them they may be very well starting up again. Plus nausea, vomiting and diarrhea happen before you go into labor.
  • Thanks everybody. They kill when their happening, and I'm trying to make sure I'm drinking enough water.
  • I've been feeling this as well! I have a doctor's appointment so , ill be sure to ask if there is any meaning to it or if there are remedies.
