Pregnancy Tracker Apps

When I was TTC, obviously Fertility Friend was the go-to app and so informative.  I wanted something just as valuable now that I'm KU!  So I went a little crazy and downloaded a bunch of pregnancy apps ... Obviously the Bump, but also Glow, Ovia, and What to Expect so far.  It's a bit much!  In your experience, which apps are the most helpful/important?  What app is your favorite so far?

Re: Pregnancy Tracker Apps

  • Hi there! Following along to see what everyone says, i've been wondering the same thing and downloaded a bunch! My favorite so far is Ovia because it lets you easily track your symptoms and water intake (and it also lets you pick a theme for the size of your baby hehe). I'm also using BabyBump and My Pregnancy (babycenter) in addition to What to Expect, but so far I like Ovia, I don't find the others as helpful.

And now I'll have to try Glow :)

  • 100% Ovia! I downloaded a whole bunch with my loss and Ovia was above the rest.
  • I am ovia all they way! I used them with TTC and loved it more than FF. Their symptoms and medication and food look up is super helpful. They make it very easy to add things like photos and symptoms daily as well as reminders for dr appts

  • Well now. I guess I'm going to have to download Ovia. I used it at first for ttc, but switched to Fertility Friend after joining the bump community. I liked the layout and the information it provides for ttc, so I can only imagine that pregnancy would be great too.
  • I got Ovia because it seemed popular, but there is so much going on, like different tabs and things to chart. But I guess that's a good thing! So I will try it out and see if it sticks.
  • Oh my...I thought 3 apps was sufficient and I found myself using all 3. I have Bump, What to Expect and Glow. I like Glow's calendar where you can pin point a date and it will tell you which week you're on. For instance, we're supposed to go to Italy this summer and I needed to know if I was going to be in the "safe" zone (I'll be 28 weeks when we're supposed to go...that's right at the end of the "safe" zone, so hopefully I can still go). Anyway, looks like I'll have to download Ovia too. DH laughs with how many apps I have! :)

  • Glow has some algorithm problems in their TTC app that makes me shy away from them now. They also have some shady practices in outsourcing development, and not purging personal data when you terminate your account. Not sure if any of that matters to anyone, but this is why I am staying away on principle.

    Ovia all the way.

  • I use Ovia and Bump. Bump I find is easier to navigate
  • Thanks for your feedback guys!  I downloaded Ovia and I think it's going to be my fave.  I like Glow too, but they always have comments on the bottom and their boards are frequented by total crazies.  So I don't really think I need that in my life ...

  • I keep Ovia on my phone for the food and med safety lists, but I don't really use it. I don't like apps that want me to log SO much info. Lol. I use Pregnancy ++. It's got daily blog posts, weekly articles, and a timeline for your whole pregnancy. That's about all I need. It keeps me informed without overwhelming me with data I need to input. It's got pretty pictures too.  :)

  • I read somewhere you can change the baby size theme on Ovia, but that app is kind of overwhelming! How do you do that?

  • @PeggyOlsonFTW When you click on the image, a larger window should pop up telling you about baby's size. At the bottom of that, there's a button that says 'pick a theme' where you can choose from 4 different ones. The weird animals one is my favorite. Lol

  • Does anyone remember or know of the app that had the daily mail "from" baby? It was hilarious and definitely helped on those hard days

  • I just downloaded a new one called "Nurture" it's fantastic, I've had all the apps and its by far the best
  • I've tried most of those named before (when I had my loss). I wish there were some way I could take the good features of all of them and put them together! That said, one of them -- pretty sure it was Pregnancy+ -- has an update that is now asking for permission to use my camera. I don't know why it needs my camera so I'm suddenly very suspicious.

  • @RainMira9e  I wonder if that would be to take belly photos with? Most of the pregnancy tracker apps I have used in the past want to use my camera to take belly pics.
  • @RainMira9e Most apps have an option to take belly photos, so they'll ask for permission when you go to take one. Pregnancy + is the app I use and they have that option as well. It didn't ask me for permission when I downloaded it this time (maybe I approved that in the past) but when I downloaded it on my husband's phone, it immediately asked for that permission so that we could take belly pictures. That's all it is.

  • Like most of you, I really like Ovia.
  • Thanks, ladies. So paranoid here!

  • I like Sprout!  I had a bunch of them for my first, and Sprout was the best.
  • I also used the Sprout Pregnancy app with my first. I love the timeline so you can clearly see what week falls when relating to trimesters etc. I'm checking out Ovia now!

Also, slightly OT, I recommend signing up for Pregnant Chicken weekly emails! She is absolutely hilarious and they were way more interesting than TB emails.
