Question for moms with toddlers

My son is 18 months old. this is his 6th ear infection and he is on antibiotics for them. Btw, he is getting tubes on the 17th. He also has a horrible cough that seems to be getting worse as the days go on. His pedi said that his cough could be caused by his ears draining. But he's been on the antibiotics for a week now and the cough is probably at its worse right now. Also, he coughs so bad that he starts screaming crying and throws up everywhere. I clean up vomit at least once a day.

Anyone else have a toddler with constant ear infections that causes a horrible cough? He is at the age where she won't prescribe him a cough medicine. I just don't know what to do anymore.

    No , but that sounds terrible. I really hope he feels better really soon. That must be exhausting for you both .

    I don't have any experience as a mom, but when I was a kid I was constantly sick with ear infections and coughs like you describe. I had tubes placed when I was about two and my parents say it was a complete 180, that I rarely got sick after that. Hopefully the tubes help your son!!

    I'm sorry you're going through this.  I have not dealt with this personally, so this advice may not be helpful but have you tried tea (or very warm apple juice) with lemon and honey?  It may help ease the coughing. 

    ETA - A small amount of chamomile tea should be ok at his age and could also have a calming affect, but get your doctor's advice on that before trying it.  
    If there's something strange underneath the hood.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  If there's something weird and it don't look good.  Who you gonna call?  Your Doctor.  Immediately.  If it's new, painful, and possibly pregnancy related get your ass off the internet and call your doctor.  It's for your health and your child's.

    My 4.5mo has a horrible horrible cough as well. We have been using this cough medicine and it's been amazing! I ran it by his peds as well and he is good with it. The link below shows the infant one, but I also saw a children's one as well. GL!
