Have you tried any type of nipple cream? I've personally used (lansinoh). Could also be the way he's latching. Try different positions. I would always adjust his latch with my finger inbetween baby gums and my nipple.
Probably the latch. Make sure his mouth opens wide, squash your boob flat like you're trying to fit a sandwich in his mouth, put bottom of your areola on his bottom lip then draw his head towards you so his upper lip curls over the top of your areola. If it's wrong, put your pinky in to break suction, pull him off. Don't let him latch wrong. If it hurts, it's wrong. Eventually your nipples get less sensitive though. At six weeka, mine are less sensitive but not at all sore but I work hard even with him having a tongue tie and me having oversupply to keep his latch 90% perfect. He gets mad but don't let your nipples be destroyed, the baby will get the hang of it. In the meantime, use lanolin, lasinoh gel soothies, and try to wear loose, soft clothes.
I may have to go with latch as well. My nipples stopped hurting around 3 weeks. Have you met with a LC? I remember really hot, steam showers helped a lot back then. I hope you feel better!
I'm in the same boat as you and baby's latch is fine. I went to a LC and she wasn't much help. I honestly think for some women it just hurts longer because I've read a ton of posts online where the pain doesn't go away until several more weeks or even 3 months. I've been using nipple cream and gel soothies religiously. It is getting better but I still feel pain and then other days it gets bad again.
I was told his latch is good. And it stopped hurting then all of a sudden my nipples got sore again.. Maybe his latch changed? Some days I feel so discouraged about breastfeeding.. I don't want to give up I want to fix it so I am comfortable again.
Mine are sore at 5 weeks because of a shallow latch that we're working on. Definitely use cream and honestly someone could tell you the latch looks good when there is something wrong. It might be worth talking to or meeting with an LC if it doesn't go away soon.
7 weeks and mine have been sore the entire time to varying degrees. We are also working on latch issues. DD just refuses to open her mouth wide, but we're getting a little better.
What do you mean by normal? My friends who have breastfed said their nipples never really went back to pre pregnancy shape or size. And breasts can shrink to a smaller size than pre pregnancy (for example a good friend went from a b cup before, d during, and a cup after she was done).
My DS slides off just about when mine are starting to feel better...I don't know how to stop it because with my fast let down the LC worked on positions where he can easily release my nipple if he gets overwhelmed
Anyone else notice that it's harder to find the right position as their LO is growing? DD has gone from 6 to 10 lbs, and I'm getting sore nipples because I can't find a comfortable position.

ETA: I think it's about accepting a new normal.
I'm not breastfeeding. I'm just wishfully thinking that my nipples will return to normal soon lol. I refuse to accept these bad boys. Not saying I will do this but has anyone heard of nipple tattoos? Apparently it's a thing now. Ouch.

Frig, you can't win, can you? I started out as a B. Not unhappy being a B. But nothing fancy. B is for boring
When my breasts first started growing, they hit C and I was pretty excited. Then D and I was really excited but then things got out of control really fast. I stopped measuring at DD. I used to want big breasts but they're uncomfortable and I don't want to keep them after this is over. But truthfully, I'd prefer to stop shrinking around a C. The idea that I could wither down to an A makes me depressed.
As to the pain, op I'm 6 weeks in (almost 7) and mine still sting too. When I touch them they're tender. Not horribly so but they are. And the pain when Olive first latches is unbearable but only lasts a few seconds. If it lasts longer, something is wrong and i remove and re-latch her. Sometimes my entire breast will sting. Which is weird. I don't know how long it's expected to last.
My nipples were so sore they were bleeding at first thank goodness that has passed.... I now get a burning sensation whenever he is finishing nursing on that nipple Is that something I need to worry about??
I'm pumping exclusively, but the nips hurt!! I've been using the Medela lanolin cream and it helps. I used the gel pads once and that helped a lot! Might make that an every other week treat, actually.... Baby is 5 weeks old.
Omg! I hope I lose a cup size!!! Idk what size I am now, but it's big. I was a 36-8DD before! I've already lost weight, but of course nothing in the boob area til I'm done with the breast feeding.

Positioning also makes a difference along with latch.
