Masiatis?

Anyone else have masiatis? And how long did it take to clear? What were your symptoms? Did you have meds... On Friday my boob was sore felt bruised no redness or lumps Saturday still sore and I iced it. On Sunday woke up with stomach pains fever aches chills fever and my boob wasn't sore anymore went and go meds. Monday still felt kinda sick and my boob pain came back. Also have had no appetite since Sunday so barely eating toast or eggs Ina day down 4 lbs and trying to drink... Threw up 3 times on Sunday not since but can't really eat. Yesterday no fever felt a lot better no boob pain.. Now in middle of night and now still feel ok but boob is sore again.
I'm not always using hot compress each time but am trying. But will these meds clear it? The pain is around the nipple area. I was pumping for almost 4 months and changed to breastfeeding for over a week or two so baby probably wasn't draining me. I wanna just go back to pumping and am pumping every 3-4 hours. Do
I need to be worried? Will this clear I'm
Taking cloxacillin.

    The second time I had it, it took a few solid days till I felt better!

    Mastitis is an a-hole! I felt like death when I had it too! I'm allergic to penicillin so I had to use an alternate antibiotic. I started feeling better within like 8 hours of taking the first pill but didn't feel completely back to normal for about a week. I'm also anemic and had a strep infection at the same time as mastitis so it probably took me a bit longer to get better than most!
    Just follow up with your doctor if you don't feel like you're getting better, some antibiotics don't work with certain people.

    I have unfortunatly had this 4 times. The first time i was hospitilised with it on Iv antibiotics because i didnt know the symptoms and it had got so bad i ended up quite ill. The next time i was really feverish and felt unwell and oral antibiotics cleared it up quite well..i would have given up breastfeeding then if my daughter had taken a bottle but didnt! The next 2 times i have had it i notcied my boob becoming slightly sore and used hot compresses before feeds, massaging the area and trying to encourage her to feed from it for as long as she would and it seemed to clear on its own.
    Basically my advice would be if the antibiotics arent clearing it within a few days id go back to ur dr and have somthing else prescribed as it can get nasty and have read worst case option u could need surgery (very worst case!). Also in future try look out for the signs because u can catch it before needing antibitotics and it saves the whole flu like feeling (that i wouldnt wish on my enemy!) Hope u feel better soon x

    I had mastitis a few months ago after going back to work (I had been nursing, then had to start pumping while at work and I don't think the pump drained my breasts as well as my baby, so the opposite of your situation!).

    I had read a lot about mastitis so knew the symptoms to watch out for, and my symptoms came on super fast. One morning, I noticed a small area on my breast was a little sore when pumping. At 3 p.m. that afternoon I hit a wall and was just exhausted. By 4 p.m., I had major chills. By 5 p.m., I was really achey, had the chills, a headache, and a slight fever. One hour later my temp had risen another whole degree, so I went into urgent care and was given antibiotics for mastitis. Started the antibiotics that night. Within 24 hours, all of my flu-like symptoms were gone and my temp was back to normal. I continued to have a sore and tender breast for probably 3 more days, and then it cleared up after baby essentially nursed on that breast all night long.

    Keep up with the hot compresses, take plenty of hot showers and massage the area with the clog, and pump and nurse frequently (usually baby is more efficient at draining the milk than a pump is, unless baby has trouble latching, etc.). I would check in with your doctor if you're not feeling better within a few more days. It took me probably 5 days to fully recover from everything. Feel better! :)
