Introducing myself (1 child, hoping for many more siblings)

Hello everyone,

I'm on cycle day 1 of my 2nd cycle officially trying again. My son is 9.5 months old; I've always wanted the big, chaotic, fun Irish Catholic family, but my history of PCOS stands in my way of that happening by luck alone. It took 4 rounds of Clomid at 50 mg to get pregnant the first time, and I've just failed round 1 of 100 mg of Clomid. I was definitely super hopeful because I had 3 follicles that matured, but my lining was a little thin, so I'm guessing that did me in. I think my doc wants to switch to Letrozole for round 2, but I'm a bit nervous as I'm still breastfeeding. I know breastfeeding delays fertility, but I only get maybe 2 periods a year on my own, so doc wasn't bothered about trying medication. I go in for a baseline ultrasound in 2 days. Pretty nervous that I might have some corpus luteum cysts hanging around. My right ovary (which had all 3 follicles) is still sore. Anyway, just wanted to say hi to all of you ladies. Wishing everyone the best of luck! And if you've got PCOS, I'd love to hear any advice you've got about managing symptoms/bringing on ovulation more naturally.

Re: Introducing myself (1 child, hoping for many more siblings)

  • Welcome..it totally sucks when you realize your dream of a big family is going to be very difficult to achieve.  I also have 1 child and am hoping for at least 1 sibling for him. I wish you a lot of luck and can't offer any PCOS advice as that is not my issue.
Good luck with this coming cycle..are you doing clomid again? with TI or IUI?

  • Hi Rachel. Thanks for the support. Not sure what the doc wants to do. I'll find out Friday. Probably Letrozole because my lining was thin. That may have just been because I haven't gotten my period back (until yesterday after the first Clomid cycle) , so the doc put me on Clomid without inducing a period first. I don't want to stop breastfeeding, so I'm hoping we can come up with a good solution. We did TI. Trying to do things the old-fashioned way. My Catholic guilt gets the best of me too. Hope we can add on the siblings ASAP!
  • *Hi rachlee. Darn autocorrect.
  • Welcome to the board!  I wish I had some advice, but I don't have PCOS...I am sorry you are struggling.   I think it's great that you are jumping into treatment again and wish you all the best in making that big family.  Wishing you a short stay on this board.

  • Thanks, GK! It's been quite the emotional/physical roller coaster. Wishing you the best as well!
