Weeks 8-15 are so hard!

I forgot how I felt my last two pregnancies from about week 8 until I started feeling movement....around week 15 I think!  I am on meds for constant nasuea and they helped a ton, so that's one symptom "gone".  I am afraid to go off it and see if I am still sick...but its almost like I need that sign that I am still pregnant.  My boobs have subsided hurting for the most part. I still cry at the smallest things and am tired, but compared to the last few weeks, I am great.  We have another ultrasound next week and I am sure everything is fine.  We already saw the heartbeat so that's a great sign.  I know symptoms come and go, and I went through this with my previous pregnancies...but its making my anxiety whacky!  I think last time I actually bought a fetal heart rate monitor (and don't think i could use it forever) just to make me feel better.  I am trying to talk myself off the ledge, but is hard this time.  So...I will just sit here, and read all of your posts and try to relax.  Just wanted to vent.  I am sure I am not alone!  Ok...I am off the ledge.  Good vent.  Have a great weekend!

PS.  I cannot figure out how to remove my old ticker from my profile.  Any advice helps!  Thanks.

  • I completely agree with this. I'm 10w6d. All my symptoms have been gone for about 2 weeks, and this is just torture! I did have an OB appt a few days after my symptoms went away and I heard a strong heartbeat on the doppler, so I'm trying to use that as reassurance. After my OB picked up the heartbeat, I bought a fetal heart monitor to help me get through. I am seriously regretting it now. All of the reviews talk about how it picked up the HB 10 weeks or before, and I've had nothing the last 4 nights. I'm trying to convince myself those girls are crazy and were only hearing their own. I could find 0 youtube videos finding HB this early using the Wusic monitor I purchased, so I keep telling myself that must be the reason. I should have bought a different brand and everything is fine.

I just can't wait until I get a return call to schedule my NT screening so I'll have a date to look forward to to make sure everything is still progressing and hopefully my baby will be perfectly healthy!

So, for sure, you are not alone. I also don't think this is a random thought. A lot of others are probably going through the same thing and will join in!

  • I feel like I could have written your exact post.  I am feeling all of those same things.  Weeks 8-15 are truly an exercise in 'sitting still'.  I wish you the best!
  • I'm at week 11 and I'm currently loving that nausea is going away, and still riding the high of my ultrasound last week. I think I'm excited because I'm planning to do a wider announcement of the pregnancy next week, and looking forward to being at a lower risk for mc. I think after that, though, I will start feeling nervous again if I continue to feel good and can't feel the baby yet. It's so weird that feeling good is a reason to be anxious! (not a good reason, but seems to be a common one). Also eager for my belly band to come in; I really didn't think I had upped my calorie intake, but my pants are NOT fitting well. Wearing a dress and leggings today and it is great.

  • Omg girl! I feel you! Since I've been pregnant I've had no symptoms but eating more and peeing more.... and random cramps here and there. That's it. I'm expecting my period to come because I literally don't feel like I'm pregnant. This is my first time and I'm 9 weeks and I expected something totally different in my mind. All I can say and what everyone has been telling me is enjoy the days you feel good while it lasts. From the minute you're pregnant you're a mom to that baby. And all you do is worry! Atleast that's how it is for me
  • Your post could not have come at a better time. Today I went from thinking "yay wow we're having another baby!" (A confidence a attribute to my ultrasound at 8.5 weeks) to "I just know something is wrong in there"...

I felt the exact same way with my previous pregnancies until the anatomy ultrasound at 20 weeks TBH. I have a home doppler so I know there's a heartbeat in there (huge help with PGAL brain), but today I can't stop going over the list of things that could go wrong..

Someone please shake me out of my paranoia!

  • ok, hit week 12 tomorrow, and I am starting to have the insanity creep back. Feeling pretty good (other than the worst RLP I've had happening yesterday, but it was short-lived), no bump yet, and it's just like, "Still hanging in there, baby?" No appointment again til 14 weeks...

  • I'm right there with all of you! I'm 11 weeks as of yesterday and my symptoms are starting to subside. I still have occasional nausea but nothing like before, and my boobs are less sore (though they've definitely grown a cup size... I need to go shopping!). I cannot wait until I can feel the baby moving around in there, and for the kicks to be strong enough for DH to feel them too.

This makes me so happy to read I was just talking to DH about it. It's been so long since I have actually heard the heartbeat or at least it feels like it. Then I was pretty confident I might be starting to get a little bump (10w 5d) and its really small but then I saw the other ladies bumps and I felt kinda nervous I'm behind a little. I also keep having family members asking if I'm feeling flutters yet and I haven't. It makes me nervous and makes me think I should be. So yeah there is my vent on that lol

    Edit: typo

It is so early for flutters baby is so small and your uterus isn't even past your pelvic bone yet. I wouldn't worry you may not feel flutters till closer to 20 weeks with your first. Also a 2nd time mom will often show sooner than a ftm again everyone is different does not mean you are behind.

I'm at 12 weeks today, and I have no bump. my pants are starting to get tight, but I just look fatter in general (incl. bigger boobs!) not like I have a baby bump.

  • I'm so jealous of all of you...if I could go ONE day without feeling like crap I would be so happy  definitely took my last pregnancy where I felt amazing the whole time for granted

  • 12 weeks today and back again to say, my NT scan cannot come soon enough on Monday. I hate to wish I could speed through a weekend, but I am SO ready for some reassurance that baby is still kicking in there and healthy!

The worst decision I've made so far this pregnancy is buying an at home doppler. I said I wasn't going to let it get to me if I could find the heartbeat, but 2 weeks later, it's impossible! I need to just throw it in the trash!

  • I had the same fears after my 8 week appt. I had symptoms like extreme fatigue, intermittent MS, mood swings, salivation, and off-and-on breast tenderness. All of that didn't seem enough to convince me that baby was still okay. I went last week for my 12 week ultrasound It was soothing to see a growing and moving baby in there. I think it's so normal for us to fear the worst. And we have to remember that symptoms have nothing to do with the health of the baby. It will be much more reassuring when we begin feeling those little flutters. I won't buy a doppler because I think that will make me a little crazier.
  • I'm going back today to try for a 2nd time to hear the heart beat at 11w1d.... Couldn't hear anything last week and our first US was not a clear one so we couldn't even see the hear beat.   My nausea is subsiding, I don't have the urge to frequently pee... Just slightly sore breasts and the bloating.  I'm so nervous :(. Trying not to go crazy

  • I'm glad I read these posts today, it's just what I needed for reassurance! I'm 9w5d and haven't been to the doctor except for our initial appt at 6w5d. During that appointment it was just history and testing and confirming the pregnancy.
Thankfully I haven't had any issues besides some occasional light spotting (no cramping) and a lot of my symptoms started to subside around 8 weeks. While I feel good (besides sore boobs, occasional nausea, some lightheadedness) it also has me second guessing if the baby is still growing and is in there! We have our first ultrasound next week (10w5d) and I just pray every night that it's growing and things are going well! It is really testing my patience!!

  • @jmknox The urge to pee starts going away at around that time as the uterus lifts up out of your pelvic cavity. Your symptoms should be dissipating as well. Try not to make yourself nuts with that doppler. If OBs can't find a heartbeat with it before 12-14 weeks, I wouldn't attempt it before then. It would be too disappointing.
  • They found the bean today!   So glad.   Symptoms are getting better so yeah it's that weird time.  Can't wait to feel the kicks :)
