Hi Everyone!
My husband and I were planning on going to Puerto Vallarta in June for our Babymoon but now with the Zika virus, we really aren't comfortable putting our little one in danger. I was REALLY hoping for a beachy place with a town for walking around and shopping. Any ideas? And if you have ideas for places that aren't like that-- I'm all ears! We live in NC so we have already visited Myrtle Beach, Atlanta, New York, Boston, Charleston, Savannah, etc.....
Thanks!!

Our backup spots are Big Sur and DC but idk if I'll be up for all that walking at about 4 months pregnant in DC.
I've pretty much accepted that I'll just lather on the mosquito repellent every time I go out.
I did find this info on Deet and Pregnancy-- so, at least that is safe: https://mothertobaby.org/fact-sheets/deet-nn-ethyl-m-toluamide-pregnancy/pdf/

I would avoid Europe what with all the Isis crap going on
With that said, OP you can also look into doing a California trip.
To each their own, I guess. I'm going to Italy and France for two weeks in April, and I refuse to let the actions of a terrorist group scare me into not enjoying life.
The recent San Bernardino massacre occurred 35 miles from where I live. I have several friends that frequented that building for work and therapy. Horrible acts of violence can happen anywhere and at any time. I'm not about to travel into war zone, but Europe? Yeah, not worried.

"around 80 per cent of the mothers whose babies had microcephaly in Rio Grande do Norte also had symptoms compatible with Zika in their first trimester."
I agree with PPs, it's scary stuff. The massive number of Brazilian babies with microcephaly is heartbreaking. I'm relieved that I'll be out of the first trimester by the time mosquito season hits in the mid-Atlantic, but I'm continuing to monitor the latest research and updates.
