Is anyone else stuffy all the time? I can't breathe out my nose the majority of the time. I tried the Neti pot last week and got good results. It's been off and on for a couple weeks. Today I was to stuffed up to get the Neti pot to work.

Anyone have suggestions that might help. I'm in dire need of some relief

Edit for spelling

Re: Stuffy

  • YES. Pregnancy rhinitis. In hindsight it was actually my very first sign of pregnancy. Something about hormones causing swelling in the nasal passages. From what I've read, it's not likely to go away any time soon. Steam is helpful for me, but that's all I've found so far.

  • Hi Yeh I'm 9 weeks 2 days and I've been stuffy since 7 weeks I find steaming with vicks in the water helps a lot, it's worse at night.

Here's some baby dust good luck to all xx
  • Try using the breathe right nasal strips at night. That and Rhinacort has helped me manage my allergies and chronic stuffiness.
  • yes! I'm so stuffy! Although, being from New England I feel like I'm always stuff all winter, so who knows if it's connected to baby.
  • Not stuffed up here, but kind of the opposite - runny nose and sneezing all the time! Similar to allergies but I don't get allergies at this time of year.
  • I think mine is a combo of pregnancy and allergies i honestly have been using benadryl to get through the night. It helps a lot.

I have both, (stuffy and then runny) and can't get rid if it, wasn't sure if there is something OTC I could take. I did t want to go out in the cold if there is nothing that would work
  • I tried allergy nasal sprays, allergy pills, humidifier, hot steamy showers, nasal strips, saline nasal sprays, netipot.... Nothing worked. I finally caved and starting using Afrin. I used it for 5 years previously (stopped about 2 years ago). They say Sudafed is OK and that is a systemic vasoconstrictor. At least Afrin is nasal so the systemic affects are much less. It's the only thing that has helped me!!

  • I had it with DS and it lasted all the way through my pregnancy. The morning after I gave birth, I woke up with a clear nose for the first time in ages...it was miraculous. I have it again with this pregnancy and I assume it will be the same thing.
  • I take Allegra every night because I have terrible allergies. Pregnancy has definitely made me more stuffy. Standing over a steaming pot of hot water or sleeping with a humidifier that has Vicks in it helps some. But I think we're doomed to be stuffy for most of the pregnancy.

  • I've been perpetually stuffy for over a month. Even to the point of snoring loudly at night. It drives HD crazy, but I can't do anything about it!
  • I'm not really sure if mine is pregnancy related or if I'm just getting sick again.

  • I've been either stuffy or sneezing and running nose pretty much since I found out I was pregnant, so it's been about 2 months now. I found strong mints help a little, other than that I just deal with it. It's annoying, but not terrible
  • Same here- stuffy and runny nose! I'm sneezing so much these days.
