I opened my Eddie Bauer carrier just to test it out and realized I am way too short for this thing!! I am 5 ft and have a super short torso and it's like taking over my body. Are there any other carriers that might work better for a small frame??
I will use my ring sling which is a lot smaller and more adjustable. As far as a soft structured carrier, the Beco Gemini is one of the best for a petite mom. I have had a baby Bjorn, an Evenflo ergonomic carrier, and used an Ergo 360, a moby and a Girasol wrap. The Beco Gemini was small, slim, and the most comfortable other than my ring sling. I am 5' even so I'm quite short.
I bought my carriers based on a recommendation from my adorable 5"1 good friend ergo 360 and Boba wrap. She demonstrated both for me a few months back, both work amazingly well for her
I have a tula and I am 5 "3. It does feel a little bulky especially because I need an infant insert until LO is 15 lbs. I am still glad I chose it though because it is really sturdy and can be used for a long time. I think even a toddler can go in one.
I'm 5'0" with a really short torso too and I love my K'tan for the early months. This time around, I also got a Tula so I'd have a carrier to use once the little one grows out of the K'tan. So far, I've tested it out with my 27 lb toddler and it works really well. Distributes the weight well and doesn't get in the way of my legs when I walk like most of the other carriers do for us short moms.
@MssyMmmy a friend of mine used the Tula carrier (not sling) with her daughter until she was at least 2 1/2 years. I don't exactly know her weight off the top of my head but she's a big babes and was always in the 99% and my friend is a very petite little thing. Prob about 5'2" and 90lbs (on a fat day lol)
Go to a local shop! The woman who runs our local baby store lets you try a bunch on, will help you adjust them all and ultimately figure out what works best for you.
