Going off work

Hey ladies. .. I'm working shift work..long hours and alot of up and down in a day. I work in a small office with alot of yelling and tension. I have asked to be on a modified shift strictly day shift as I have a little one at home as well.
Boss says he doesn't want to upset other coworkers.
While I'm at work I'm in alot of pain and leaving work I have to hold my stomach due to the pain. Checking to see if anyone has any advice... I don't want to go off work but I feel it's my only option at this point.
Advice anyone?!

I'm not sure what to tell you except maybe try a belly support while you're at work and see if that helps. As far as the yelling and tension, I haven't got a clue.

Have you discussed this with your doctor? If it's a legitimate medical concern, I'm sure they can write you a note that you need a modified shift. If it's just regular pregnancy discomfort, I think you gotta suck it up as much as you can.

I work in a high stress job, long hours and lots of overtime requirements. my dr did not think it was beneficial to my health, or the baby's to work 12-18 hours with no promise of a day off, so I have a dr's note to only work my scheduled shifts (which are still 12 hours long and I still have to handle stress and the aches and pains of being sedentary for long periods of time.) I felt guilty at first not working any of the OT, but I am getting over that guilt. My baby's health and my sanity come first. I would bring up your concerns to you dr. However, keep in mind that some work hours that you miss will count against your FMLA leave (like for me our two standby days would count if I was required to come in and didn't.)

I have my Dr appointment this week so I'm going to ask her then. I work with all males so my boss is a hard to communicate with. The last 2 girls went on stress leave at 28 weeks due to preterm labor. .. I don't want to be that risky

I am in Canada and have amazing benefits as I would be able to take short term for up to 15 weeks before my 1 year maternity would start.

I do shift work as well in a high stress job. You should talk to your doctor about this. I had to be put on an altered schedule due to some issues with DD. My job wouldn't allow it and I ended up on BR bc of the stress I put on my body amongst other issues I was having.

Like the ladies before me said, definitely chat with your doctor or midwife about what is best for you and if need be, they can write you a letter for your employer. I work an insane schedule in a very physically demanding position and have been keeping a conversation going with my doctor since the very beginning (especially since the first trimester was SO EXHAUSTING). My doc is in full support of me taking it easy (although I haven't actually done it yet) and I'm sure yours will be too.

As far as the pain, I would run that by your doc/midwife as well. No idea what that is.
