I have a big family, and I am pretty close to most of them. I'm also lucky enough to have lots of friends, close ones and the kind I see once or twice a year to catch up with.
Of course my immediate family and close friends have/will hear about my pregnancy in person. But what about everyone else? I'm genuinely close to almost all of my aunts/uncles and most of my cousins. The thought of having literally dozens of "I'm pregnant!" Phone calls is exhausting, though. Is it OK for my mom to tell her sisters, for example, or should I?
I'm seeing one cousin I've always been particularly close to in a month, so I'll tell her in person. But then I feel guilty because I won't be able to tell her sister in person (she lives several hours away). Ah!! It's a lot.
Re: How did you/are you going to tell extended family/friends?
Just make sure that you are ready for people to know once you start telling people. Sometimes people are so excited they may let the news slip before you are ready for a wider group of people to know!

If you're really worried, my other suggestion would be to mail announcements out or send emails.
My mom really wanted to tell my Grandma, so I let her share the news-and once Grandma knows, everyone would know. We both agreed to wait till around 10 weeks (I found out early early) then extended it to 12-I actually didn't talk with extended family till around 20 weeks as I was just too exhausted with life to deal with pregnancy excitement, worry, and questions. Once she was told it went on facebook. Prior to that I sent out a group chat to my closest friends so they learned all at once-DH texted his best friends as well. That was it. No one said a word about how they found out etc, as again, they were just happy for us.
