Counsyl/Genetic Testing

Hi mommies! I'm 12 weeks and not deemed a high-risk pregnancy, however, my doctor recommend the Counsyl Informed Pregnany Screen which tests for some chromosomal abnormalities, micro deletions, as well as sex chromosomes, so we will know in a week if it's a little boy or little girl! I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the Counsyl test and the accuracy of the results? I'm on pins and needles waiting for the results...any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you!

    I'm also 12 weeks along and fortunately extremely low risk so my doctor said it's purely optional for me. So far, I've declined it but I might be changing my mind just to ease concerns. But considering my doctor didn't have a preference one way or the other if I got genetic testing done and you mentioned you're not high risk, I bet there is nothing to worry about!

    My friend (who had a beautiful baby girl 6 months ago) did it, and everything was accurate including the sex reading. If it is offered to me, I will definitely be doing this (i'm only 6 weeks pregnant).

    The higher genetic testing like the counsyl are seen to be much more accurate then say the NT scan and the counsyl also looks at a larger array of things as well. If you get told sex it will be accurate as they look at the chromosomes in the blood :)

    If your dr is recommending it I would suggest doing it or having a conversation with your dr asking them why they are reccomending it ;) it is non invasive if memory serves me right so you won't be at risk for a miscarriage

    We used Counsyl to determine what went wrong during my last pregnancy (that ended in a D&C). They were fantastic. We got the results back within 10 days. I am hoping we can use them again to do the genetic screening at 10 weeks.

    We used Counsyl. We had the results in less than two weeks and were able to view the results online. We were able to identify that I'm a carrier of MTHFR which may have contributed to my previous loss and I was able to start medication asap.
