Shit just got real...

Ummm note to self I am not getting on the scale for a long time...holy moly! And to think I thought I haven't even been eating all that much. Sweet heaven on Earth! My husband says it's because it's a different time of day than I normally use the scale, but I call BS. No more bagels for me...who am I kidding?!? Anyone else feeling like the bloat/weight is creeping up quick? I need to get a handle...

Re: Shit just got real...

  • I put on about 5 pounds within 10 days of my BFP. It has to be water weight since my diet hadn't changed at all. I wouldn't worry too much.

  • My scale has gone up a few pounds too but it is the physical changes that surprised me the most. The bloat has caused my midsection to look so big in just a couple of weeks! I know it is normal but I do not enjoy the mirror lately. :D

I look heavier in the day time with bloat and most of my pants are uncomfortable when sitting at my desk, but when I weigh myself, I haven't gained anything. This, despite my huge carb cravings and intake. The doctor said for me, weight gain would be minimal to none in the first trimester. Don't be put off though, it varies person to person, and know that if you're eating more, you're sending nutrients to baby too. :)
  • I've gained 7 lbs in the last week and a half. Despite throwing up everything I eat. Ugh.

  • I actually lost a couple pounds the first week or so but I've already put it back on. When I weigh myself it's always in the morning before I eat and tmi... Usually after I poop. I also always weigh naked (unless I'm at the doctor)
  • I have lost 8 pounds!
  • It just made me realize if I don't want to gain 75 lbs by the end of this pregnancy I need to figure out some healthy food options that I can stomach...YIKES!
  • Everyone gains/loses weight differently during pregnancy. Try not to be so hard on yourself. You and your body are going through enough changes right now, there's no need to stress about weight!

I'm 5'3" and they told me I shouldnt gain anymore than 30lbs with my son.... I gained 50. Doctors didn't say one word about it. Also I gave myself 9months for it to come off... And it did, without vigorous exercise or dieting.

So enjoy your pregnancy and try not to stress :)
  • I am only getting on the scale right before doc appointments just so I can prepare myself for the monthly weigh in. I was a few pounds up, but I think it's mostly due to bloat and increased fluid/blood. I stopped weighing myself a long time ago due to body issues I had after having DD. I ended up losing the baby weight by focusing on how i felt in my body and not obsessing over a few pounds or whether or not i skipped a workout. Right now I am so sick and all I can stomach is carbs so I could not give two f*cks if I'm gaining. I'm just surviving. I can eat healthy in 2nd trimester.

  • I'm up a few from carbs and bloat. Trying to stay level headed. Gained about 40 lbs last pregnancy (starting at a healthy weight) and lost it all with no trouble

  • I have to watch when I weigh myself because I'm still breastfeeding. If I weigh myself before DD eats I'm usually a bit more than normal. It's thrown me off many times how I am X weight in the morning vs. X weight at night.

  • When I was weighed at the doctor I wanted to cry. 9 pounds heavier in just two weeks! Just hoping its water weight.
  • Well, you are supposed to increase your blood volume between 20 and 40% in the first trimester, so I'm gonna assume that most of this extra 5 lbs isn't water or bloat, but grade A pos vampire kool-aid.
