Stressed out!!!

So I'm a FTM due 2/26. My husband is looking to change jobs, which usually wouldn't be a big deal except it would require a move...and me finding a new job too. He is incredibly unhappy in his current job (so I can't blame him), but all the change at once-- having a baby, changing jobs for both of us, moving, etc-- has me super stressed out. Anybody else go through anything similar? Any advice? Words of encouragement?

Re: Stressed out!!!

  • It can work, and it may make you happier in the long-term.  But you just don't know!  My dad got a new job when I was 3 months old and my parents up and moved my brother (who was 4 at the time) and I from Ohio to Georgia.  Granted, one of the reasons why they were okay with it was because the new job offered to pay all moving costs and my dad would be making more than the two of my parents combined at his new job - allowing my mom to stay home with us.  It may be really hard on you to move, try to find a new job, and have to leave your new child to daycare (as well as not have anyone that can watch your LO in an emergency).   Their thought was that if they were unhappy after two years, they could always just move back home.  22 years later my parents couldn't imagine not living in Georgia.  So it is possible!  Good luck to you!

  • Just make sure you make an informed decision and weigh out the pros and cons. If it looks like it will make you both happier and be better for baby and you both in the long run, I'm sure the stress of it will pay off.
  • That's for sure juggling a lot. My advice would be to not stress about stuff that isn't happening at this very moment. You have the strength and grace you need for today. When the time comes for those other events, you'll have the strength and grace you need then as well. If you have friends or family, I'm sure they'd be happy to help you when you're feeling overwhelmed.

I don't know what your faith life is like, but when I'm about to make big decisions, I spend some time in prayer. It has a way of calming me and guiding me on the right path.

It's funny how life works sometimes--what we're the most afraid of sometimes works out to be the best thing for us. I'm sure you'll handle the upcoming changes beautifully. Good luck to you.
