TTC After a Loss

Happy Friday! Weekend/Snowed In plans?

Happy Friday! What's everyone up to this weekend? Anyone getting snowed in?

We are in the possible snow area in New England so I am going to pick up some supplies this afternoon for hunkering down if necessary. Other than that, no plans! I do have some movies and TV shows I want to watch. The new show Billions just premiered and I haven't watched that yet.

Re: Happy Friday! Weekend/Snowed In plans?

  • Yes! I'm in the South and if it snows/ices here, everyone stays home, which is nice! I am supposed to work tomorrow but wondering if we will be delayed/closed. Trying to think of things to do to keep busy today! Probably cleaning, watching TV, and snacking on foods I shouldn't :)

  • Happy Friday! I'm on the west coast, so no snow here. It might rain a little this weekend, but even then it's not supposed to be a heavy rain (but we could sure use it). The SIL is in town this month so we will be kept busy visiting with her.

  • No big amounts of snow predicted chez Catiecat... and no big plans either - just boring stuff like going to the gym, grocery shopping and checking my work email because my students have an exam next week. I want to get out of the house on Saturday for something other than groceries (Sunday is for football) but I'm at a loss for what we should do.

  • No snow on in Chicago, thank god! No huge plans either, we have an engagement party Saturday night and I'm doing acupuncture on Sunday. We're getting ready for our trip next week and I've been researching natural bug repellant strategies. We're going to start taking B1 and eating a ton of garlic and onions in hopes of repelling those pesky mosquitos. I also bought a ton of lemon eucalyptus oils, some bracelets that are supposed to repel mosquitos, and some Off with DEET. After talking to my Dr this am, I'm regretting TTC this month. She said that my plan sounds ok, but if I get a BFP before we leave, we should probably not go. I never thought that I would be rooting for a BFN next week. Fingers crossed!
  • No big snow fall amounts for us!!!!! yay!!!!!!

That means DH and I still get to have our first date night in like 6 freakin' months on Saturday night!! Sunday means acupuncture and watching the Pats kick some Denver ass.

  • I'm outside Philadelphia so in snow-pocalypse zone.

I got groceries yesterday. Need to reassess if there is anything else we need before tonight.

I am going to make a big old pot of sauce with sausage & meatballs on Saturday to entertain myself.

If I keep getting BFNs I'll probably enjoy some wine.

  • DC area here, too. My impromptu snow stick tells me we have about 10 inches on the ground so far, with another 12 hours or so of snowfall to go. Luckily, I didn't need to do much stocking up, and I've got a Brunswick stew planned for tomorrow that ought to make me perfectly content to stay inside and being lazy ;-)

  • I'm in KY but only minimal snow here (5in - even though that's a ton to me, since I grew up in AL)! I'm working on a journal article with my boss that's due on Feb 1, so I'm constantly reading and writing, wash and repeat. I'm going to ask the snow lords for one more snow day after this thing is due, so I could enjoy one this winter! Good luck to all you in the "blizzard zone"! Stay warm and BD away!!

  • I'm in NW PA and for once, totally happy we aren't forecasted to get dumped on (we get lots of "lake effect" snow so I probably have a good foot and a half or so on my lawn already). But it's still frigid outside! Making Louisiana BBQ pulled turkey in the crockpot and watching lots of Netflix this weekend before work on Monday.
Hoping you all in the path of the storm stay safe. I drove through a snowstorm near DC last year and it was a terrifying experience to be out on the road.
  • Hi all! I am north of NYC and it's coming down hard! Thankfully we will be staying indoors and probably binge watching Netflix, may watch DH play video games. I am now snuggling with my fur baby, he is so sweet. Everyone stay safe- it may be the best time for BD! I am in the TWW, so it will be BD for fun ;)

  • @Wishilivedinflorida my husband is originally from Erie with lake effect snow too! And yes, even a dusting of snow on the road leads to a terrifying driving experience down here... there are 2 types of winter drivers in dc 1) go 90 because why not and 2) I'm absolutely petrified so go 5 mph and I wonder why I can't get up this tiny slope.

  • @dpjennifer I assume a lot of people don't have the tire tread to handle it. People were doing 20 mph in minor slush on the beltway and I actually switched to the country roads once I hit VA because my car could handle the unplowed roads! Us Erie folk aren't afraid of it. Stay warm!
  • @chloe97  Wow, I wasn't even thinking about the Zika virus. What a dilemma! How far into your cycle will you be when you leave?
  • @BornReady FF gave me crosshairs this morning and I'm currently 3DPO, so the first day that I can test is next Saturday probably. I may test the day before we leave on Wednesday on the off chance that it was wrong. I hate to live my life like I am pregnant when there is a good chance that I am not, particularly because we booked this trip to drown our sorrows about the MC. The folks on the TripAdvisor Forum have assured me that the hotel does a great job spraying- no one remembers getting bitten at all and DH is just gonna have to deal without doing a jungle hike like he wanted to do. I keep telling myself that even if I get bitten once or twice, the chances of it being a Zika mosquito are very small. All the Mexico cases reported are in the South East region of the country and we will be on the West Coast. No matter what I was going to be basket of nerves my next pregnancy, so adding this to the mix is not going to help. All of this was just coming out when we started BD-ing and I assumed since there were no cases reported in PV, I would be fine. But what's done is done. I am kind of freaking out about the virus spreading across the states though. I have a feeling that a daily bug spray regiment is going to start being a thing this summer for the all pregnant ladies.
  • We are still lounging in bed with our fur babies (we actually came back to bed after breakfast). Later I have a 90 minute massage that my family gifted me after my loss - I can't even remember the last time I had a massage and am looking forward to this!

Tomorrow I have brunch with some other bumpies from the Minneapolis-St Paul metro!
