UTI?

About two weeks ago I came down with a cold. When it didn't get better I made an appointment with my primary. She diagnosed sinusitis, said my sinuses were inflamed, and sent me home with a nasal spray regimen. I started feeling better then came down with a cough two nights ago. Next thing I know I develop excruciating body pain from my hips to my head. I also began coughing/vomiting yellow mucus. After calling the Ob nurse, I was sent back to the doc for a checkup. Turns out I whatever virus I had initially led to 100.7 fever, and uti, and an upper respiratory infection. I've been assigned 4 days of bedrest, antibiotics, tylenol, and an antihistamine.

I've never had a uti before, however, I've heard they can be quite painful. Has anyone else dealt with them during pregnancy? The weirdest thing is that I don't feel any uterus pain. I guess I always just assumed uti mean painful irritation down there. If anyone has any symptom management tips please advise! I'm already drink a lot of water and have been nibbling as much as I can. My ears hurt now too so it's hard to work up an appetite.

Re: UTI?

  • Uti need a certain antibiotics. I would go get your urine cultured. I have been fighting one for 8 weeks now they can become very serious for pregnant ladies.

  • They gave me an antibiotics to take every 6hrs for 10 days. She said it should also help the upper respiratory infection. I'm just wondering if there's anything else I can do. My entire aches, especially my head and ears. I hate the thought of taking so much tylenol, but I'm literally forced every 6 hrs on dot because the of the symptoms. :(
  • For me certain antibiotics lead to yeast infections. I think lots of fluids- water and cranberry juice is supposed to help! Hopefully after a day or two you'll feel better!
