"Criteria" for MaterniT21?

Does anyone happen to know what the criteria are to qualify to take this test. The paperwork I have from my OB says, "If you meet the criteria you can come to the office any time after you are 10 weeks for the MaterniT21 blood test....." but they don't specify what the criteria are. I can call them back and ask, but I've literally been on the phone with them 100 times today trying to schedule my NT scan, they probably think I'm insane lol, so I figured some of you may know! I didn't do it for my first pregnancy, so I have no clue.

Re: "Criteria" for MaterniT21?

 • My OB only recommends it if you are AMA and/or have a family history of genetic disorders. I can still opt-in to the test, but some insurances won't cover it unless your doctor says you need it. If you don't know whether you qualify, just call and ask.

 • Anyone can get it...the criteria just refers to whether or not insurance will cover it. Typically you need to have family history or be over the age of 35
 • I'm getting it done because my husband is over 36. The criteria are pretty varied, and if you have concerns, worth talking to your doctor about. My doctor said it is one of the few tests they will do just to set a mothers fear to rest since it is so non invasive. If my insurance wouldn't cover it she said to expect to pay 130 for it.we're doing the harmony test, which is similar. (men over 36 are twice as likely to contribute a genetic defect as men in their 20's... Still a pretty slim chance with no family history on either side, but I'd rather do the test to be sure!)

 • Got ya, thanks! She didn't mention anything about it, so I'm assuming I don't "qualify," but I bet my RE would recommend it since we didn't test our embryos. Hmmm....
