Baby Shusher

Before LO was born a family member bought us the "Baby Shusher" after seeing it on tv. It's basically a device that continuously makes the shhhh sound and is supposed to soothe crying babies. We never tried using it until tonight when LO was having her nightly crying spell. We put her in her swing and turned on the shusher... after a minute she stopped crying and soon after fell asleep.
I'm not completely sure if it was the shusher that did it or just coincidence. I will have to see if it works on different occassions.
It's something to consider or try if your LO has a fussy spell when nothing else works.

Re: Baby Shusher

  • I personally just don't like the sound of the shusher. It creeps me out that it sounds so much like a human. Also, I watched a video of it in use and my pup got upset. So I wouldn't want to use it at home. I heard they can be really good for in the car.

  • We use the Shusher too! It's not magic but definitely helps calm DD when she's upset.
  • @groovylocks Recommended a "pink white noise" YouTube video a while ago and it is my saving grace! I actually used it this morning when DD refused to take a nap. She instantly stopped crying and closed her eyes. Try it out if you don't feel like buying a machine! :)
  • I use the "baby got colic" video from YouTube at the suggestion of one of the ladies here and I love it. My LO calms down right away when he hears it.

Wow! This worked like a charm for me tonight!

I've been using it too ever since @groovylocks mentioned it and it works like a charm! Averie stops screaming instantly, no kidding like she stops mid wail!
  • We used a sleep sheep for DD and now for DS and it puts them right to sleep!
  • My DS loves his Fisher Price Singing Owl it plays an owl sound and some lullabye music.

I am going to try this because I always make a shhhh sound when LO is waking up too soon during a nap attempt and 8/10 times puts him back to sleep, lol.
  • We got one yesterday and it works like magic!

  • Apple also has a White Noise app. It has different sounds like white noise, pink noise, red noise, moms heart beat, baby's heartbeat, the vacuum, fan, car and a few more. Works like magic. Probably good for traveling, too.
  • There's a free white noise app called sound sleeper that is our saving grace. Hairdryer and Vacuum cleaner, two of the apps options, are LOs favs.
  • We slept with a box fan going before baby and do it after. It's good cause it blocks noise out
