Mocktails?

You guys. I'm 4w4d and I already miss alcohol. We've got a loooooonnngggg way to go. Lol! I've always been a gal who enjoys a nice glass of wine or beer in the evenings so anyone have any ideas as to how to satisfy this urge? I know a glass of wine is fine, just not something I'm 100% comfortable with, especially after a loss last year. Any fun recipes for mocktails??

Re: Mocktails?

  • I'm a beer and wine girl as well, but my former bartender husband made me a fun mocktail the other weekend - seltzer with grenadine and frozen berries. Very tasty.

  • I find that just putting flavored seltzer in a wine glass helps.  Something about the wine glass makes it feel more special than just seltzer water.  I've also done it with seltzer and juice, which works out well.

Also love the idea of putting frozen fruit in it.

I do club soda with frozen or fresh fruit in a fancy glass and sometimes with mint or basil. It makes a delicious (and easy) mocktail that feels kind of fancy! I also like OJ with ginger ale or sprite (and sometimes also some grenadine) for a mock-mimosa.

They do make non-alcoholic wine (not just sparkling grape juice but actual wine with the alcohol removed) but my nurse practitioner was like "there is still some small traces of alcohol and your baby is developing his or her vital organs right now..." Guilt trip much?!

ETA: because I used the wrong "there" and I'm feeling like an idiot now. I swear I'm not an idiot!
  • Last pregnancy I adored FRE wines. The white zin is really good. I agree. The first few weeks is so hard because you don't feel pregnant yet and are used to that nightly relaxing drink. It will get easier. Search out "alcohol free" wines. I'm sure your local liquor store carries some. Good luck!
