No snow day here. The city really doesn't shut down much. Last time it did we were expected to get 30 inches so they shut down everything, including the subway, and we got about 4 inches! So to work I go tomorrow, but I leave you with this

We don't have snow days I live in upstate NY so we don't shut down for much. It has been a very mild winter, but still, I'm dreading going out and dealing with any amount of snow.
No snow days here-- we're supposed to get 1-6" over the weekend, which won't really shut anything down. It was definitely icy this morning from the bit of snow we got last night!
I'm in Rhode Island...and they have no idea what's going to happen. Could be a dusting, or 4-8 inches, or a foot in a half, or just some wind, and it might be here Friday...or maybe Saturday afternoon...possibly Saturday night into Sunday...
Snow day here today. We got maybe an inch last night. Much more forecasted for tomorrow. My kid is disappointed. We homeschool and today he usually has a full day of classes which are apparently more fun than my plans for the day.
I'm dying for a snow day!! I'm a teacher and school doesn't let out for us until June 8th, but since I'm due May 24th it doesn't matter to me how far into summer we go because I will be on maternity leave. Give me a snow day!!!!!
In Portland we shut down for absolutely any snow at all, it's awesome. We don't have the infrastructure to deal with snow, nobody knows how to drive in the snow, and also it is usually covered by a thick sheet of ice since the temperature just dances around freezing, so we get a whole lot of this: https://youtu.be/KyfjZlOSq2A
YES!! I can finally join in on this since they canceled work for us tomorrow. You all have NO idea how much I need this. I need a break from that place. I feel like a kid again!
North Carolina cracks me up though... I grew up in Ohio and we had school and work with a foot of snow.... Here it's like you say the word snow and the whole state shuts down. I am sooooo not complaining though HAPPY SNOW DAYYYYYYY.
@kp90 I wish! But I'm trying to save my time for maternity leave but if it gets really bad (all the ice and stupid drivers). I'm not getting my pregnant butt to work. I commute an hour every day to work.
*sings* North Carolina come on and raise up take your shirt off twist it round your head spin it like a helicopter.....
Seriously though NC rollcall! How many NC folks on here? Not trying to hijack the gif party. Just saw where a few people were mentioning NC and it piqued the ole curiosity.
DH gets a snow day. I don't b/c I work from home! Only way I get a snow day is if the power goes out.
Another snow day here today in the Nova/DC area. Thankful my dh is teleworking today so he won't get caught in the storm on the commute home. Trying to decide if I should run to home depot for nursery paint. We may be snowed in a while here.

Petey Paub in the house!
OMG roflmao I've never seen that before. I may be stealing that pic and sending it to a FB friend who would so get a kick out of that.

Eastern Connecticut here...don't you just love how accurate the weather report is? I keep saying to hubby, "should we be preparing for something?"
I live just north of Boston and we have no clue what is happening. One minute we were going to get hammered, the next nothing, and now 3-6 inches. Well, what is it?! And when?! I guess we just see what comes.
I'm in VA with the blizzard watch expecting 30" .. it's been snowing since 12pm today the worst expected tonight so I've had a snow day today and tomorrow the whole county is shut down!
@rufflifephilly or anyone else really. How do you get your cars clean and does the snow damage the cars at all? DH is curious after seeing all the pics on the news - so I thought I'd ask
@Charissadeats I live in New England and am used to getting buried (though we missed this storm...sending T&Ps to those who got the full blast!)
Basically, we just shovel out. I have seen some people use leaf blowers to get the lighter layer of snow off the car first! Also I love my Sno-Joe car shovel. It is a softer foam like blade so it doesn't scratch the car when you need to get a couple inches off the top. The snow doesn't usually cause damage, but I have had my mirrors taken off by a snow plow and the paint has been scratched by people shoveling out cars parked next to mine. The salt is the real killer so I try to get my car washed with a protective coating after a huge storm. It can take up to an hour to really dig out and it was the worst when I lived in an apartment without a garage or dedicated parking spot. Sometimes I would have to park in a lot a 15 min walk from my apartment, lugging my shovel and work bag, dig out around the car (which of course had been plowed in), get enough cleared so I could get in, drop my stuff for work, start my car up, get the defrosters going, get out my car shovel, and warm up for a second or two. Then, head back out and chip away some more at the snow around the tires, clear off the car itself, and then, because my car is 4WD, try to off-road it up the rest of the snow. All-in-all, it would take about an extra hour and a half to get going in the morning. And then, like a true New Englander, I would go to Dunks for an iced coffee!

But seriously, I still have to go to work if it's "not too bad". I'm considered an essential employee
