Hello guys, this is my first post on here and I wanted to introduce myself and a little bit about our story.
I am 27, my husband is 35 and we got married in March 2014. In May 2015 I came off the pill for the first time in 10 years as we decided to start a family. However, month after month I had no periods whatsoever. Concerned I went to the GP after 6 months. She wasn't concerned but after the bloods came back completely normal I insisted on referral (I have private insurance that covers the investigations).
So in November the specialist checked my ovaries (multi cystic but not poly, looked ready to go) and uterus (a little undersized and tilted but otherwise okay). After quizzing, it looked to be that my tough training schedule (I am a keen distance runner) was working against my hormones and a reduced regime and drugs could kick start things. But she still needed to do a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy before prescribing drugs.
I had said procedure last week, expecting it was a tick box exercise, almost cancelling and just stepping down my training. But something pushed me on to have it and I did.
A week on and I am still reeling from the shock of what I was told: my Fallopian tubes are 'lazy' and the chances of us conceiving successfully naturally are less than 10% and if we do ectopic pregnancy risk is much increased. I also had stage 1 endometriosis. IVF is the next step if we want to have a family.
It's been an emotional week - I am still feeling knocked for six. We have the follow up appointment on 3 Feb and there will discuss our next steps to IVF, which we are extremely fortunate to be in an area where we qualify for up to 3 rounds on the NHS.
So that's me! I just wanted to say hi and connect with others who have some idea of what I am feeling (shocked, tearful, angry, mournful, confused on a daily basis) and what lies ahead.
Thank you for taking the time to read this
Xxx

I hope you will find comfort in hearing that your prospects sound very positive! If you have good ovaries and and good uterus, and the only problem is the tubes, you are likely to respond very well to IVF! Read through some of the monthly IVF threads on this board, and you'll get a sense of what it entails. You'll also see that you're not alone in this.
I hope your journey is smooth, and that you find strong support along the way.
