Update: Trying not to freak out...

TMI and Loss warning.

4w6d today. I just got done with a moderate 30 minute workout including cardio and weights. Afterwards went to the bathroom and had brown colored mucus when I wiped. It was similar to what I get the day or two before menstrual cycle. I would not say it was bleeding but definitely has made me unsettled. Anyone experience this before or have any insight?

I was also set on not getting Betas drawn this pregnancy as I did not want the chance of false hope as my HCG got relatively high with my BO pregnancy. I am reconsidering getting it drawn tomorrow. I did go out and buy more PG tests to use later tonight and in the morning (including ClearBlue Advanced with weeks estimator) to see if it goes to 3+ weeks (last week it was 2-3 weeks).

Thanks in advance.

I don't have much insight on this but I'm sorry you're going through this!! Call your OB and let them know what you are experiencing.

I actually had brown spotting just like you are describing with my DS the entire week of my BFP. It was mixed with mucus sometimes. My doctor told me that many women with normal pregnancies have brown spotting, sometimes for several weeks even. As long as it doesn't turn into period-like bleeding, it can be a normal part of pregnancy. If you are worried though, I would call your OB and get betas done if it will give you some peace of mind!!

  • Thank you all. I took another pregnancy test and even with crystal clear urine it was still a strong positive. That has given me some peace of mind. Will definitely be calling OB in the morning and probably get Betas done. This was enough to change my mind. I am keeping my FX it is just normal PG stuff but also knowing that there is nothing I can change at this point. Thank you for the support! It is great for such a new board!

  • Fingers crossed! I have read that brown spotting can be okay (old blood getting pushed out by the body) but of course it'll be great to get checked. I've read that bright red blood is what calls for real concern. But it's always good to have peace of mind. Good luck and hope to hear some good news in the next few days.
  • Same as PP, brown spotting is normal not a concern (although im sure it feels like it!) and bright red is not good. Sending you t&ps for good news from the doc tmrw.  Keep us updated!

  • Try not to panic!!! I had bright red bleeding at 3w 5d and freaked right out. I haven't had any since and the midwife didn't seem concerned since I wasn't cramping and I'm not bleeding anymore. I would think spotting is even less of a concern. Call our dr or OB for sure but I'd be very hopeful that everything is going to be a ok!!
  • Update and still concerned: 6w5d now. Had three more occasions of brownish CM but was still having lots of symptoms. Called to get HCG checked yesterday and it was 68500. Really good.! Then woke up this morning and had brown blood covering the tissue after going to the restroom. Called OB right away and with no other symptoms (no cramping) they said to keep monitoring. 2nd HCG will be drawn tomorrow. Still concerned but trying to keep calm. Anyone else have experience this with normal/high HCG?

  • Did they check your progesterone levels?  I had brownish spotting and later found out my progesterone was low (but HCG was fine).  I started on supplements and haven't had any spotting since.

  • I woke up to brown spotting this morning. I'm 6w6d. I called my OB and they told me my only option was to go the ER as I haven't been seen by them yet for this pregnancy. Even with my miscarriage history, they refused to see me. After much begging they got me in next Tuesday for a "problem gyno" appt that includes a sono so I guess that'll do. They also said the same thing about brown blood not being a cause for concern, but I guess I'm leary due to past experience.
  • @cmiska That doesn't sound right to me. I had brown spotting due to low progesterone with my DD. I was 4w5d when it started, and my OB had me come in for a blood draw right away. It may worth it to consider looking into a new OB that takes your concerns seriously.

  • @cmiska similar to previous poster, I hope that you find some reassurance or get an answer soon! It is definitely unsettling having this happen!

  • I had brown spotting for first 4 weeks of pregnancy I now have a 2 week old. It's very common!
  • 2nd Beta came back at ~78000. Doubling rate is around 270 hours. Unsure what to make of it completely but I am reassured as doubling rate increases the higher the number. Hopeful that an increase is a good sign. Will be calling OB in the morning.

  • @camichael84 thanks for that info. I nearly lost it on the phone with them today. I don't know if I should call back and ask about having my progesterone levels tested specifically or just call a different Doctor. I really like the actual doctors in this practice but the staff has no compassion.
  • With my first pregnancy I had this happen for two weeks straight. It was nerve racking but what everyone else is telling you is true about brown (old) blood. A lot is growing in you uterus and most likely you are just getting rid of old stuff left over from a previous period as your uterus expands to make room for lo. I am not a nurse but I remember how scared I was when this happened to me. Now I have a crazy 6 year old. Good luck!

You have a two week old child and you're also due in September 2016? How is this possible? Please tell me you mean two YEAR old!

I think @eliseandbaby is lurking and not actually due in September. That is what I tought when I read her post.

Also that is why it is better to put a warning above your post when you post in a board where you lurk. To avoid confusion (if it is the case).
