After finding a thickened area in my uterus, the RE wants to recheck and have a look with a camera if it's still there once my period is over. The recheck is tomorrow and he has a colposcopy clinic afterwards, so he said he could just take me over and have a look and remove anything that needs removing. Am I wrong to think sticking a camera into my uterus via my cervix should be done under anesthetic, especially if he has to remove a polyp or cyst??? I assumed as much and wanted to talk to the nurse about it, but she assured me everything would be done at the clinic without drugs. I'm terrified. My HSG was alarmingly painful, even swabbing my cervix causes major cramping. Just freaking out a little... I've been traumatized before and really don't want to traumatized again.

Here in Scandinavia they do everything with just some painkillers and if lucky a shot of morphine.
Only on special request they'll put you 'down under'.
I've done freezing of my cervix, biopsy of my cervix, lasering of my cervix and retrieval of 18 eggs being wide awake.
It's been painful, specially the retrieval of the eggs so I would not recommend being awake. But it's not something you can't handle either...it just very very intense and the pain is very difficult to place as you haven't experienced it before.
Not saying to frighten you. Just to let you know you can handle it, but it is definitely far off from a walk in the park (like way off!) and I don't recommend it.
