SeaBands for nausea

Since nausea has officially set in for me at any given time, I dug up my SeaBands from my previous pregnancy. They helped, but I still felt a bit queasy.
I did a little research on acupressure and found I wasn't wearing them low enough on my wrist (was wearing them high like a hairtie before). I may opt for a children's size to make them tighter as mine have lost some elasticity. I woke up this morning and felt great. I strongly recommend them to alleviate nausea!

Re: SeaBands for nausea

  • Thanks! How tight is it? I'm weird when it comes to things around that side of my arms. Don't even ask me how I get blood drawn! Lol I semi faint each time.

  • They are semi-snug, but they have to be in order to work effectively. Personally, I'd much rather have this weird feeling on my wrists than feel like I'm going to vomit at any given moment! I'm trying to explore more wholistic methods this time around :) Hope this continues to work. It's going to be tricky hiding them at work. I'm just going to have to wear dark, long-sleeved shirts everyday!
  • Oh my gosh these sea bands are saving my life right now I literally wear them from the moment I'm outta the shower till I'm just about to fall asleep.... within minutes of taking them off I feel so terrible but at least I'm in bed
  • My doula recommended them to me and I just can't seem to get them to work. Maybe I'm just not getting them in the right spot.

  • I've been using a similar product. I tried with my other two pregnancies and it didn't help at all, but with this one it seems to "take the edge off".

  • @CoffeeBeanFiend91 - it may be a good idea to find some that fit more snug. Ps I love your name!

  • I'm going out tomorrow to buy one!!! Thank you for this info!!
  • Ok, I NEED these.  They have some on Amazon, is the brand just called SeaBands?  And it looks like they have one called Seabands Mama for morning sickness.  Get that one or the regular?

  • @izzetoot I just have the regular SeaBands.  (I originally bought them when I was going sailing with DH because I get pretty awful motion sickness.)  I don't remember whether or not I even used them for sailing and, if I did, whether or not they worked.  But they have been amazing during my pregnancies!  The only downfall (that I'm just now remembering) is that they make my wrists sore after a full day of wearing - especially the 'pressure' spot.  But whatever.  I'll take some sore wrists over extreme nausea any day!

  • Ok thanks! The regular ones are same day delivery for $7.  Im getting them now!! Ohhhhhh I hope they work! The only cure for my nausea is sleep, and I have a 20mo old, so thats not really in the cards...

  • @izzetoot- good luck momma! I don't recall being so freakinggggg nauseas last time around, but these are def helping. I'll def agree with PP that they leave your wrists sore, but it's better than puking on my toddler! What in the hell did I do in my past life to deserve this torture?! I'll take it, though if it means a healthy baby.
  • I've been using the seabands, too, and I definitely think they're helping.

  • For those who said they work, are you only nauseated or actually puking? I have tried a lot of things that came recommended to me by friends who just felt very nauseated (not to diminish it!) but weren't actually getting sick and they did nothing for me. Pukers, talk to me!

  • @RedMar Thank you for the pictures -- they were so helpful! I hadn't been wearing mine low enough and I couldn't believe how much better I felt once I moved them.

  • Just picked up a pair from cvs! The guy at the register goes "cruise?" and I said "nope". Then he goes "sailing?" and I still said "nope". He went on to guess everything from amusement park to car sickness (all to which I obviously said "nope"). He finally goes "I've got nothing left". I carefully slid the Sea Bands to the side to reveal the morning sickness ginger drops, and he goes "oh, I see!" At first I was a little irked he was asking me so many questions, but by the end, I loved him! He went on to share with me that he had an 11 month old, and his wife went through awful ms. "She would turn white, and I would say 'here love' and hand her the bucket". He was adorable. He ended the convo with "Congrats!" and "Now you should ask for a cruise for your push present!" <3
  • @crispy11- I haven't puked (knocks on all wood) but have had severe nausea I was going to vom at any second. These little puppies have kept me from having the spins!
  • I have pretty serious motion sickness and rely on the sea bands anytime I have to ride in a car and I'm not able to be the driver. I have tried the psi bands too and find they work just as well as the sea bands. These things are life savers! Unfortunately I really dislike ginger, but during my last pregnancy I chewed ginger gum, ate ginger soft chews and hard candies, and drank ginger ale while wearing my bands daily from 6-14 weeks. Absolute life savers! I just turned 6 weeks a couple days ago and tonight is my first knock-me-on-my-ass nauseous night. Time to stock back up on ginger and break out my sea bands. It'll be a long first trimester!
  • Used them with pregnancy w/ DC1. They took the edge off, but didn't get rid of the nausea completely. Sour gummies and preggie pops helped too.
