Sub-chorionic hematoma...

Hello all!

This is my first time posting so forgive me if this is already out there, but has anyone else been diagnosed with a SCH? If so what have you been told so far/what was the prognosis? One was discovered on my 9.5 week ultrasound a little over 2 weeks ago and is still causing me bleeding/discomfort....Although I was told to monitor it and my symptoms I wasn't given much other guidance yet...any ideas or advice?

YES! I have a medium sized one. It was discovered around 8 weeks and I'm a bit over 11 weeks now. Both my RE and obgyn said not to worry and that'll it'll eventually reabsorb. But I had a really big hemmoraghe last Thursday that they think was due to the SCH. I honestly thought I was miscarrying with the amount of blood I lost. When I saw my obgyn yesterday, he reminded me that an SCH can bleed quite a lot depending on its size, and that I shouldn't start to panick about blood right away if I'm not also passing tissue. I was also told to lay on my left side to slow the spotting/bleeding when it was happening. Still scary. I hate these SCHs and wish mine would disappear already!!!! (It did get smaller). I also had one found during an ultrasound after I called my OBGYN due to bleeding. I was told it would heal itself and not to worry.

During my first pregnancy it was identified at my 7 week scan (the same week they discovered my progesterone had dropped). I was put on pelvic rest and modified bed rest and followed weekly until it stabilized. It could still be seen on the 12 week scan but I was told they weren't worried about it. I ultimately developed placenta prévia and had a c section at 37 weeks for my little boy. I think the bleed caused a scar which caused the placenta to not move as it should but my midwife denied it. Who knows? Good luck!

I had one with my last baby. It can be a risk factor for m/c but not always. Mine did bleed a lot but pelvic rest did help.

Yes girl, you are probably fine! I had one at 10w I actually had two and had a lot of bright red bleeding. Went to the ER because I thought I was having a miscarriage. I had a MC in August and just wanted to know ASAP if I was losing the baby. I went to ER on a Friday and by Monday at my OB they were not longer there. I assume because I passed everything. I will say a prayer for you. But hang in there! Hopefully it will pass or reabsorb! I also had these with DD as well. I was told they are from your placenta attaching to your uterine lining and will eat into vessels.

i previously worked in the ER and these are actually pretty common! so dont stress mama! these usually dont pose much risk for baby

Thank you all for the advice!! I had just been starting to feel better about it a few days ago but then last night it started bleeding again through about noon today and I almost went to the ER to have it looked at. I just wish they knew more about these things! I'm on pelvic rest right now still as well but not bed rest yet.

I'll try to keep you updated as I see the doctor more. Thank you for putting my mind a little bit at ease though...this one is my first so I don't really know what's normal yet.
