Confused

Up until now I have not had any signs of progression in dialation or the like. I'm currently 41 wks and scheduled induction is Friday. I've started having lower back pain like period cramp(haven't cramped since I was 16 and will be 23 next month). I got up to go to the bathroom and felt something strange. When I wiped it was bloody and there was what looked like a slightly bloody chunk. I'm thinking its the mucas plug but not sure. Any thoughts on how to ease the pain and get some rest?

  • No experience here but you can try the search feature on the board. There have been several posts about the bloody show/mucus plug/cramping prelabor symptoms.

  • I have but the thing that bothers me is the people that are talking about the cramping is in the first trimester. I wondering if I'm just paranoid or if I need to be cautious.
  • I think cramping is normal at the end especially with your bloody show. If you are worried though, you can call in the morning but my guess is that as long as it is not a lot of blood and mixed in with mucus, you could be at start of labor. Keeping in mind it could still be days away.

  • And the bloating an gas comes with the territory?
  • You should always run bleeding by a doctor this late in pregnancy- even if it's possible it's just your bloody show- it's better to know for sure. Hopefully it's a sign of progression for you. Good luck
  • Thanks. I have an appointment today, but I was wanting to hear from y'all. It's calming the nerves. :) Y'all are awesome. :)
  • I had cramping in third trimester towards the end. I think it's pretty common. There should be a bunch of posts on it.
  • My pre labor was all-day cramping and the bloody mucus like you describe. My water broke in the early morning hours of the following day. Definitely mention it at your appointment!

  • Thanks. Will do.
  • Appeantly those cramps were contractions. I'm 5 cm dialated. What next?

Are you at the hospital? Call your OB to see what they would like you to do!

I'm assuming your doctor told you that you were 5cm? Your dr didn't tell you what to do next? Generally they want your contractions to be 5 minutes apart, lasting 1 minute, for an hour. If that's you sounds like it's time to have a baby!
