Jogging strollers

Sorry if this has been posted before I couldn't find any posts and I tried the excercise board and I didn't get a whole lot of responses on there.

I plan on running with her when she is 6-9 months old and able to hold her head up well and take the bumps etc. I am going to just use a jogging stroller instead of a regular one. Any other moms just use a jogging stroller? How does it work out for you?

I'm also looking for jogging stroller recommendations. Our car seat we have picked out is the Key Fit 30 in either in Fuchsia or Shale (undecided on the color). So I would like something that will fit the Key fit 30 right into it. Thanks in advanced!

Re: Jogging strollers

  • I'm actually considering the same thing as a FTM.  We are looking at the Peg Perego Primo Viagio car seat and the BOB Revolution SE Single stroller.  BOB has adapters for some other brands' car seats to fit with their strollers.  Also curious on others' opinions on just using a jogging stroller.

  • We plan to purchase a jogging stroller for runs and/or light hiking trails. The one that mainly sticks out for us is the BOB stroller, though I don't know whether it fits the car seat you have, OP. I have 3 friends that are runners with 2 kids, and they all purchased and loved the BOB.
  • I'm not into the whole jogging thing...but I just want to say that I would pick an infant seat that could fit the stroller I wanted. I think I switched DS to a convertible car seat around 7 or 8 months and his stroller I still use today.

But, most strollers have adapters and fit a lot of different car seats!

    Actually @Bear14+ I believe it's pronounced yogging, with a soft J.
  • BOB!  I run with DS in a Bob and love it.  Mine is a few years old and I got it off Craigslist after I knew I'd actually run with him.  I also use it to walk to the park when the weather is nice.

However, I would not have it as our only stroller.  It's big and bulky and H doesn't like it as much.  (He's 6'4" and doesn't like the handle bar as much).  We have a Bob and City Micro (infant car seat attached to it) and it's worked out well.  I wouldn't like going through smaller aisles in a store or with crowds of people with the jogging stroller.

  • I am looking at these three right now two of them are BOB brands: The BOB revolution and the BOB baby jogger summit X3. I'm also looking at the Chicco Tre. I'm leaning towards at BOB as long as it fits the car seat we picked out. I was considering a Britax BOB b-safe car seat so maybe I will go with that car seat if it fits the stroller better. I have to go and try the car seats in our car first we have a Honda Civic and Chevy Equinox. Then if they have the strollers I can see how hard it is to fit the car seat into the stroller.

  • @Huskerfanz would you recommend registering for a car seat stroller package and buying the jogging stroller seperately that way we have both.

  • I got a baby trend jogging stroller for $40 used on Craigslist when DS was about a year old. I don't really jog but I needed something better for a stroller class I took. I don't think there's an infant car seat adapter for it (I could be wrong) but all I can vouch for is if I'd bought a jogging stroller to use from day one I would have hated it and never used it. It's really heavy and bulky. (Takes up half my trunk and I have a Toyota Highlander). I'd personally get a snap and go which is essentially a skeleton frame your car seat clicks into instead of using a car seat adaptor for a bulky jogging stroller. They cost the same (or less) and are about 1/3 the weight. It won't handle as well as a jogging stroller will but I can't imagine you'll be doing too much crazy stuff the first 6 months of LO's life.

I love using Lucie's List when it comes to picking out baby gear. She has a whole section on just jogging strollers. Good luck with your search!

I would depending on your lifestyle and how often you'll use a stroller.  The Bob is big and kind of a pain to transport so I only put it in my car for running.  If I'm going to the zoo, a festival, the mall, airport/flying etc, I take the City Micro.  (Or I wear him in a carrier.)  When H and I take walks around our neighborhood, we usually take the Micro because he likes it better.  It's also nice because the seat leans farther back than the Bob.  It would have taken him longer to fit in the Bob as it's a bigger stroller.  If it's just me going on a walk or for a run, I take the Bob as it's smoother.

  • I take my Gracco jogging stroller to places like the zoo and the fair because it's a smoother ride and because I can fit more stuff in the basket underneath.
I second not using the jogging stroller for everyday use. It's huge and would be difficult to take around in a store, but I know people who have done it. My friends didn't use an infant carrier and only bought a jogging stroller and convertible car seat. So everywhere they went with their baby, they took the jogging stroller--the store, out to eat, everywhere. Although I think at the grocery store, when he son was little she would lay him down in the seat part of the cart. They wanted to invest in a jogging stroller because they ran, but to get it to fit in their budget, they did it that way. So it works, it just isn't always the most convienient.

  • Not sure about your car seat but the BOB is awesome! I'm a FTM but used to nanny for a kid with that stroller and it was seriously the best!

  • I have a Baby Jogger.  I love it.  I don't jog (ever- at all- except to catch the bus) but my cousin works for the company so we got a deal.  When I use the clunky stroller my mom keeps at her house I cannot believe the difference.  Just walking anywhere with the thing feels like a workout (I am a fit person, despite my dislike of jogging :)) and is just annoying to say the least.  I never think twice about mine- it's just like an extension of my arms.
  • I think we are going to go with one of the BOB jogging strollers and car seats as long as the car seats fits our cars well which it should. Thanks for the input!

  • I have a baby trend double jogger. We only use it for trails. Otherwise it stays in the garage since it's so bulky. It doesn't fit through single doors so I don't recommend it, but it was only $100. We had a single baby trend jogger and it was great for about 3 years, but also bulky and difficult to transport.

The joggers that are adaptable and can add extra seats, if you plan on more kids, is what I recommend.

  • With DD I just started out with an inexpensive JEEP jogging stroller but I didn't love it so I bought the BOB revolution and I love it! DD is almost 3 1/2 now and I still use it for her! I highly recommend it :)
  • I will say this, I love my BOB revolution for jogging- however it is big! And it's a little heavy. I purchased a travel system for our first LO and its Graco. I use that stroller for everyday things because it's easier to fold and unfold, lighter, and fits better in the back of our Subaru! I don't regret buying two. Hope that helps a little!
  • Thanks for the replies! I'm leaning towards Graco Admiral Modes Jogger travel system now because its a car seat and jogging stroller in a travel system. Its also more reasonable and we plan on having a second so I don't wanna invest in a BOB now and have to buy another one down the road when we have our second baby. It's easier to fold up from what Ive read about it online but I would like to check them out in stores however none of the stores around me have a big selection in jogging strollers. Im just not crazy about online shopping lol.

  • @Jerseygirl9090 I think that might be the jogger we have, if it is I'm pretty sure they carry it at Babies R Us and we bought ours in store at Buy Buy Baby. If there is one in reasonable driving distance, you could always call and see if they have it on display in store before driving an hour or so to a store to check it out. And look for coupons. You can almost always get a 20% off coupon for Buy Buy Baby or Bed Bath and Beyond (same company so take both coupons). And Babies R Us is doing their great trade in event starting Feb 1 and you can buy or pick up a really old car seat from Craigslist for $5-15 and then save 25% off your purchase and you can order it while in the store to be shipped to you and use the discount if you wasn't, just add it to your registry first so you get your rewards for it.
