My baby is going on 6 days old and all during the day she nurses as much as she wants and even falls asleep after feedings. But after 9 pm rolls around it's a whole different story. She shows all the early hunger cues, so I try and get her to feed. She tries for maybe 30 seconds then pushed off screaming bloody murder. Last night it was an ongoing battle with literal constant screaming until 4:30 am when I broke down and fed her a bottle of formula, which I've done every night since the day after she was born for the same reason. And what do you know, she falls right asleep. I don't want to formula feed or supplement and everyone I've talked to said to just stick with offering her the breast. But I don't know how I'm suppose to do that. Nothing I do consoles her( I think I've tried everything). So she's exhausted and hungry. I can't win. I'm scared that I've ruined her since offering that first bottle in the hospital. The ONLY time she has a bottle is at night when she's crying like that. Does anyone else have this problem? Is it possible to not supplement anymore?? If so, what can I try? Btw my milk is in too
Re: Baby inconsolable at night?
No solutions here, just a few things to consider.
Good luck. We've had a hard first few days, too.
I'm not too sure what engorgement feels like. When I wake up after supplementing my boobs feel sore like someone punched them. They don't feel hard or anything. But now I can squirt milk out (weird lol) and can make it drip out when I couldn't do that with the colostrum. Idk it's all so confusing.
Oh I've seen those. I'll ask my lactation consultant about trying one. That might help actually

Just remember that you have to do what's right for your baby. If she needs some formula, then you shouldn't feel guilty. We do what we need to do for the love of our child.
