Personally I like to chose names within our heritage with meanings that are dear to us. While we are leaving the sex a surprise for the delivery room we have decided that if it is a boy the name will be Coulter Whinn B. Meaning 'from the backwoods' and 'friend' from Celtic and Welsh decent respectively, If a girl the name will be Rowan Ida B. Rowan being a very spiritually representative tree, strong and fair, Ida has other meanings but we stole it from the German Frida meaning peace, though Frida is a bit to old-timey for us (also even though it is the 'frid' that carries the meaning I believe it to be our prerogative as parents to pick and choose.)
My parents decided in the delivery room, as did my husband's which caused arguments on both parts, some of you will be finding out the sex and will probably decide then but I'm just curious how and when you make your decisions.

Thankfully, my husband is relatively easygoing, so it was not difficult for us to choose my daughter's name (Cecily Lucia). We just loved the name Cecily, and Lucia is both Scandinavian (my heritage) and Italian (his heritage). We found out later that Santa Lucia is the village where my husband's great grandparents grew up, and we also realized later that while Cecily means "blind", Lucia means light, and St. Lucia is the patron saint of the blind. I like the balance in that!
For this baby, if it is a girl, she will be Iris Aurora. I love the name Iris, and it means rainbow, which is suiting because she will be a rainbow baby. Aurora means dawn. In Roman mythology, Aurora watered a valley with tears for her lost son, bringing it back to life. I really connected with this story after my miscarriage, so the name holds a lot of meaning for me.
If it is a boy, he will be Lochlan Theodore. Lochlan is the name Scottish people (my mom's heritage) used for Norwegians (my dad's heritage). Theodore is just a name we both like.

Isabelle Ann N.
(Great gramma first name and my fav aunt and cousin and sister's middle name - all strong women)
If it's a boy we just picked d something we liked
Jaxson Gunnar N.(Jax for short ) we just like the first name and gunnar after a fav ufc fighter, the army (both our Dads grampas etc served) and my first rottweiler.
Judge away .iII do not care. my kids my names lol and our last name is so basic....lol
My oldest son's middle name is his dads middle name which is his great grammas maiden name.and his first name is a Gaelic name to represent heritage.
My son's name is Samuel William. Samuel Is from the bible. William is my dad's name. We knew that would be the name if we had a boy, so as soon as the u/s tech told us it was a boy we started calling him Samuel.
Ps twins runs in both families

After that we decided we won't discuss named beforehand because we have to see their little face before we can actually decide.
We're totally set on a girl's name. We're finding out the gender before we worry about settling on a boys name. The girl name is both of my grandmother's. Plus I love the name "Claire Ellen"
There aren't any family boy names we really love, and I hate the name DH loves for a boy.
I love Claire Ellen, @Allisun85. I always wanted to name my kid Claire or Clara when I was young. Unfortunately neither of those names work with my husband's last name.

Our son's name is Noah Wayne
For number two boy - Wyatt _____ (got any ideas?)
girl - Hannah Mae (Mae is one of my middle names)
(Loss Mentioned and Child Mentioned)
It seams like a lot of people have also had ideas from childhood of names. It's funny I looked back at my name ideas for #1 and was not as attached to them this time around. I think there's a feeling that comes with a coming little one that gives an essence of personality, or a change in ideals in what you aim for that may sway your decision. Back then my ideas were very future-oriented and based on regeneration and renewal, where as now I value the idea of existing peace and tangible emotion.
For a girl, we are more than likely going to use Willa Louise. Willa Cather is unequivocally my favorite female author, and it's such a strong name. And it fits my criteria, uncommon, but not "you-nique".
For a boy, we're probably going to use Rhys Ivans. I did break with criteria a bit, as Rhys isn't a "tribute name", per say. Hubby is of Welsh and Irish ancestry and the name Rhys is the traditional Welsh spelling of "Reece". Again, an uncommon, but normal name.
We did have the Panorama genetic testing done and it says we're having a girl! We're waiting for an ultrasound to confirm before we share the news with friends/family. That being said.... I guess we'll be going with Willa.
Boy- Bennet Dean
How long after you did the blood tests did you get your results back from the Panorama? I just went to the lab today....can't wait for results!
@smmrsunshine - My parents suggested Raelyn for a long time but we just couldn't get attached to it. We do like Reagan and Reese though for a girl.
@nonniebird - we started getting the genetic results back after ~5 days and got the gender results back exactly a week after the appt.
In the end (after really trimming down our list) we had about 4 or 5 names left. We didn't choose the one we were going to use until several hours after she had been born. At the time of her delivery, our OB was filling out whatever they have to fill out and asked for her name. We told him we didn't know yet. He told us that the was the most common baby name these days.
We still haven't decided he wants his family name to carry which is Sanford Roy but it would make ours a fourth which is so many and they all go by Roy which is really confusing to me. We have talked about Walter Ray. Walter from his grandfather that passed and Ray is what my dad goes by. Idk we will see haha
DS is Theodore Claude. Claude was DH's grandfather, who passed, and Theodore was just a name I liked because it's traditional but not super common. We call him Theo, which is both adorable on a little boy (IMO, anyway), and can grow with him to adulthood. And if he ever runs for president he can always go by Theodore.
If we have another boy, I think naming is going to be REALLY hard, since it took us so long to agree on DS's name. But I still want a middle name with meaning and a first name that is "normal" but not too common. For a girl I really like Penelope Louise (Louise is a family name). I'd call her Penny.
These are all just ideas rattling around in my brain since DH and I won't discuss until we find out the sex. He might very well hate Penelope anyway. : P
