Holy crap, I have a baby!

We've finally gotten there. Our daughter, Elizabeth was born on Wednesday evening, weighing 8 pounds, 12 ounces. This is, of course, after the doctor reassured me that she "would barely hit 6 pounds." Ha!
Some things didn't go according to plan--I never dilated past a half-centimeter, so they used a cervical balloon to start that process. Normally, it's left in for 12 hours, but at hour 5, my water broke, and we were off! I didn't struggle with the pain that a lot of people associate with Pitocin, but I don't have anything to compare it to. I asked for an epidural whenever I hit seven centimeters, and they were good with that, but the anesthetist was in a C-section, so by the time I got it, I was 9 cm! Unfortunately, I had problems with my cervix beyond that point, so after 3 hours of straight pushing and rolling around, I finally got that baby! The other problem we had is that baby was laying on a "hot spot" nerve, and so the epidural never seemed to take effect. After delivering, my doctor stood up and looked at me and said, "I would say you could call this a natural birth." I'm taking it. I feel like it was!
We're just arriving home now, and trying to acclimate. We're working on latching, but my hormones are a mess, and every muscle hurts.  We're getting there! So glad to have my "Birdie" on the outside to keep me company on those sleepless nights now!
