Gosh. Help.

I'm having these weird feelings. Like they're not painful. But they're uncomfortable. It's like a weird pressure feeling in my vagina & lower abdomen. Which I originally thought was what I've heard as "lightening crotch". But they're coming & going, and my mom said to time anything that comes & goes, since contractions can feel different for everyone. Well they're about 3 minutes apart (2 minutes and 14 seconds, 2 minutes and 30 seconds, 3 minutes and 7 seconds, 4 minutes) and about a minute long. But. I'm not in pain. So. I don't know if I should go in or what.

  • How far along are you? Also call your OB nurse line and talk to them about it. They could tell you best if you should come get checked and I'm sure they get tons of calls. They don't mind labor is so different for each person. Even if it's your first baby. Not every first labor is long. I'd rather be safe than sorry. Good luck!

^^^exactly what she said! Call your OB and best of luck to you
  • I'm 40+2. I just went to seep and didn't wake up to any pains, so I'm glad I didn't go in. Still kind of bummed because I really thought it could be the real thing last night. But thank you ladies!
  • The general rule is they should last a hour before going in. My doula suggested if uncertain take a hot shower. If it's the real deal they'll stick around. If it's false labor the hot water will generally relax your muscles and it'll go away.
  • It could have been the position you were in, too. I had contractions only while sitting in one chair in our house, or perched forward on a stool. They were always false labor, but the doctor said that he hears that all the time--certain positions bring them on.
