How far along are you? 16+3 (Edit: 17+3, WTH)

Rant/Rave/Symptoms? I feel like crap today.  I so wish I could have stayed home from work but we are so short staffed that I need to help my staff out with the call center.  Our BM is doing great still, she is on the heavy side so it's hard to really visualize a true bump and not blump but there is definitely baby in there.  Our A/S is 2/3 and we will reveal gender to the family after that.  We can't wait.

What are you doing to prepare for baby? Still stalking BRU for clearance items.  They are killing me by only putting one items out per day.  I might as well get a second job there!

Questions? Where did everyone buy their Baby Bargains book at?

GTKY: If your DH or SO were to answer this, what would they say is your most annoying trait? I tend to over think/analyze everything.  It drives him nuts but he knows it's just how I am so he deals with it and just laughs.  He tries to help me talk through it and normally it helps so we complement each other in that way.

Rant/Rave/Symptoms? Just feeling pressure/twinges. 2 teeny dry heaves this morning--no, stop it!

What are you doing to prepare for baby?
    Eh. Research and gestating.

Questions? My skin is flipping out. I bought the Belli Skincare system shortly after I found out I was pregnant, and have run out of the moisturizer. I won't be repurchasing as I think that's a big part of my issue. I found it doesn't hydrate my skin nearly enough (especially now that it's frigid), so I wound up with angry, clogged pores from my skin overcompensating with oil production. Anyone with acne-prone skin have a favorite non-Belli moisturizer you're currently using?

GTKY: If your DH or SO were to answer this, what would they say is your most annoying trait? DH is incredibly patient (bless him), so it's probably most annoying to him that I am impatient often.
  • How far along are you? 20+1

Rants/Raves/Symptoms: I start back for my last semester as an undergrad this afternoon. Not sure if that's a rant or rave at this point, haha. I have night classes for the first time ever (not done until 10:00) so I'm glad DH is able to go with me and hang out for a few hours so I don't have to walk to my car all pregnant and alone or make the hour drive home alone. He's alright.

Symptoms: I just can't wait to have more consistent baby movement. It makes me so anxious that I don't feel it constantly despite knowing that's totally normal for a FTM. Oh and the RLP and uterus pressure/stretching can stop at any time.

What are you doing to prepare for baby? Nada. Will probably go register after my anatomy scan next week (I'm really like 19 weeks + something today according to my OB last measurement but I got tired of changing the app every time he updated my due date which was every appointment until my last one).

    Questions? Nope.

GTKY: If your DH or SO was to answer this, what would they say is your most annoying trait?
Huh. Probably my incessant over thinking. I've heard "how do you even come up with this stuff?" more times than I can count.

    Rant/Rave/Symptoms?
I have tomorrow off work because I have to take DH to a doc appt at 5am. So we get to spend tomorrow together (even if he's doped up) which is nice because he works all weekend :)
No new symptoms, other than more middle-of-the-night discomfort.
OH! and rave! I felt the baby kick a lot yesterday!

What are you doing to prepare for baby?
We bought some stuff from target this weekend. Just random stuff for the bath, some bibs, some play mats to put on our hardwood floors.

    Questions?

GTKY: If your DH or SO were to answer this, what would they say is your most annoying trait?
Hmmmm. Either my extreme impatience (it's bad..) Or my obsessive advice/questions about things I'm worried about. For example, I tell him to "look out for coyotes" every single time he takes the dogs out. And I ask "did you lock it??" every time we are walking away from the car. It's always locked. That's gotta be annoying haha

    Rant/Rave/Symptoms?
RLP, lightning crotch, feeling uber pressure in my girlie bits, and last night, I was having searing cramping in my way lower abdomen. It went away after I sat down for a bit and drank some water, but holy moly.

What are you doing to prepare for baby?
    Nothing ATM

    Questions?
    Nope!

GTKY: If your DH or SO were to answer this, what would they say is your most annoying trait?
My DH is amazeballs, but probably the fact that I *sometimes* go behind him to reload the dishwasher after he's done it. Or redo his cleaning....because I'm super Type A about having a neat/clean home. I've mellowed out a lot, but.....yeah. Great question!
  • @BakerBird525 how exciting for your SIL and you! My cousin is having a baby in September so my little guy will have someone super close in age to grow up with as well. Plus, it's always fun when your intuition is right. ;)
  • @Kballew10  Congrats on the new job!  Are you familiar with the new area at all?

DH is.  His family lives a little over an hour away, but in the middle of nowhere, so they drive there for some things.  I've been there once.  It's only 2 hours away from where we are now, so it should be an easier move!

Rant/Rave/Symptoms? My tailbone was in sooo much pain yesterday, only on my right side - I spent the evening and night propped up diagonally so my weight/pressure would be on my left side... willing and asking the baby to please move off of my back. Today it seems to feel a little better so fingers crossed baby listened! Rave: DH actually picked up one of the books I bought him about pregnancy/becoming a dad and read about 50 pages - its a start!!

What are you doing to prepare for baby? I put a few things on my BBB registry yesterday- then I felt guilty that maybe DH would want to do that so I only put like 5 things on. When I asked him when I got home he said we can do it together online over the weekend but he doesn't have a need to go to the store and do it... I'm not sure how I feel about picking everything out online so we came to a compromise about going & meeting with a specialist about the car seats that will fit with particular strollers etc.

    Questions?

GTKY: If your DH or SO were to answer this, what would they say is your most annoying trait? He could probably list a few but he has saintly patience with me :) I'd probably guess my need to always be right, or my stressing/planning over everything... (he thinks things just miraculously happen without tons of planning & legwork!)

@Kballew10 WOW sounds like you certainly have your hands full with life changes! Congrats on your DH's new job! Fx all goes smoothly finding a new home & daycare and new job for you!

@BakerBird525 that's awesome! Very exciting news to hear and wonderful to have cousins close in age!

@ahernandez16 good luck with your final semester of school! How nice of your DH to stay with you so you're not alone late at night.

@crdo I"m not acne prone but I use organic coconut oil as my facial moisturizer and it does well on my usually uber dry winter skin!

@Love4Labs326 Was so glad to hear your family reveal went well and that they are all excited for you! Have you found anything good on clearance yet?

@Jerseygirl9090 I've been sleeping much the same way - with pillows propping up my thighs to stop restless leg syndrome, now one under my butt for my tailbone, and another to push me to the left side... this is all in addition to my snoogle! My poor DH is losing space in our king bed!

@mrsschmitty I hear you on wanting to feel the baby! I'm so impatient and get more frustrated every time someone asks me if I feel it yet!

  • @Huskerfanz rrrg colds during pregnancy are the worst.  I only had one very early on when pregnant with my daughter (and it was while I was on holiday AND didn't have any other kiddos to take care of).  I can't believe how long mine is hanging on.  I hope yours is gone for good soon.

@Love4Labs326 so glad things are going well for your family.

@MamaNicoleof3 pressure in your girlie bits you say?  This is something I'm dealing with too.  I don't notice it when walking or sitting but definitely when standing.  I was getting paranoid that baby was trying to escape but the more I read about it, it seems more likely a blood flow thing.  Did you have this in other pregnancies?  Brand new (therefore scary) for me.

How far along are you? 17w3d

    Rant/Rave/Symptoms?
Rant rant rant- this cold did seem to be breaking up last Friday but had me in a tight grip all weekend.  It's really hard to be at work right now as I'm exhausted, nauseated, and my nose feels like it's going to fall off.  I already work only 4 days a week and miss a lot of time lately because of appointments so I'm really trying to be here for my staff.
Symptoms- still having nausea, and now I have pressure in my vag when I stand for more than about a minute.  I'm looking forward to my ultrasound next Tuesday just to make sure everything is okay down there and not too low.  I never had this with baby #1.  As I've said above to MamaNicole, when I read about it, sounds like it's likely from increased blood flow but it's still slightly worrying.  Can others relate?  It's not intense pressure or anything- just there- and sometimes it feels like my vag is slightly numb as well.

Questions? See above... otherwise, any genius tips on kicking sinus congestion?  I'm now using saline spray but I can't say it's really a game-changer.

GTKY: If your DH or SO were to answer this, what would they say is your most annoying trait?  Oh dear- definitely that I'm a control freak.  I like to plan EVERYTHING and it frustrates me when my hubby doesn't know every detail of the plans we've made.  I've been working on this for years but alas.  My job requires that I plan all the time, so that only encourages me!
  • @Kballew10 Congrats on moving!! I love new adventures like that.

@Bakerbird525 I'm super jealous that you will have a pregnant friend around that's not too far behind you. I know ZERO pregnant women where I live which kind of sucks.

    How far along are you?
     20+1

Rant/Rave/Symptoms? Rant: It's snowing here today and I have to drive an hour into my OBs office for my A/S. Rave: I have my A/S today, so yay!! Since DH is coming with me, I have to hang out near his college campus while he teaches a class but there are a couple of cute baby and kid stores nearby so at least I'll have something to do. No symptoms at all really.

What are you doing to prepare for baby? I have the boxes with the stroller and car seat sitting in my foyer waiting to be put together so I definitely need to get to that. Otherwise, my mom is hosting a shower for me in late February so I'm starting to get things off my registry. I really need to get our nursery cleared out and painted so I have a place to start putting everything.

GTKY: If your DH or SO were to answer this, what would they say is your most annoying trait? I actually asked DH this question because I was curious about his answer and he gave me that deer in headlights "This feels like a trap" look. Poor guy. But his answer was that I'm too addicted to my cell phone and/or facebook. Totally fair on his part
  • How far along are you? 20w1d

Rant/Rave/Symptoms? Rant/symptoms: I am just so uncomfortable. My stomach aches and since last week I've been dealing with this stupid constipation. So someone suggested prune juice and I took it, like an idiot. So much so that yesterday was awful (and in my paranoia I thought "Could I have listeria?" until I remembered the damn juice). And today the gas is awful and it just won't move so my side and back hurt and I've spent the last 30 minute walking around the office hoping the gas will move.
Rave: DH started his first day as an assistant principal. AND he was given the Florida's Best and Brightest "scholarship" (a huge joke/slap in the face from the DOE in an attempt to make teachers feel like they're getting more money when in reality they've made it nearly impossible to get the bonus...but that's an argument for another day) and we can take a small babymoon. So I'm pretty excited. We've decided on Disneyland since we're big Disneyphiles (we got married at WDW, and we live 3 hours away so we try and go once a month. We did DL Paris for our honeymoon, so DH thought this would be sweet), so I'm enjoying planning that.

What are you doing to prepare for baby? We are in the process of picking paint colors. I bought samples and we'll try those on this week. We also registered, it was much more fun than I'd thought.

    Questions?

GTKY: If your DH or SO were to answer this, what would they say is your most annoying trait? LOL! I have a lot. Probably my inability to "pop off", I get pretty angry, pretty quickly and I know it bothers him especially if he's the one that triggered it.

Rant/Rave/Symptoms? Rant: people passive aggressively criticizing me for working out (oh your POOR baby!) Even though it's GOOD to work out. Rave: my husband is excited and super supportive, fell asleep cuddling with him holding my bump (gag worthy but I loved it) and I can feel her moving around like crazy now even though I have an anterior placenta.

What are you doing to prepare for baby? Reading Ina May's A Guide to Childbirth, getting finances in order since DH just got a new job, getting an insane amount of hand me downs

    Questions?

GTKY: If your DH or SO were to answer this, what would they say is your most annoying trait? Currently: Emotional! Crying over everything. Usually: I'm a control freak.

Rant/Rave/Symptoms? I feel uncomfortable full all the time, like a balloon that's about ready to burst from being overfilled... Ugh.  Heartburn. RLP.

What are you doing to prepare for baby? Still just preparing the house.

    Questions?

GTKY: If your DH or SO were to answer this, what would they say is your most annoying trait? I leave the toilet lid open.  Or - I am more of a go with the flow and he is extremely strict on schedule (and no changes to it).

Rant/Rave/Symptoms? Still getting random nausea/puking attacks. I've decided they'll probably last through delivery and will just have to deal. I've also been getting noticable BH contractions once or twice a day, usually if I'm laying down quietly which is weird. I love them though, my bump becomes so much firmer and easier to distinguish. Also, totally forgot its Tuesday, not Monday, since I had MLK day off and didn't put garbage out this morning so I guess we're waiting until Friday morning for that...

What are you doing to prepare for baby? We painted one wall in the nursery, 1 more full wall, 1 wall with a window and then the wall that's mostly door and closet left to go! Painters tape is also the most amazing invention ever. Seriously.

GTKY: If your DH or SO were to answer this, what would they say is your most annoying trait? Indecision on things I don't care about.
  • @crdo I recommend Cerave if you can find it (I'm in Canada). My doctor recommeded it to me and I love it. It's not greasy and it moisturizes well. I have some crazy patches where I'll reapply later in the day, but for the rest of my face that's more "normal," once in the morning is good.
  • Thanks for the face care suggestions, ladies! @candicek15, @MsBeachNJ, @catherinekate
  • @NicknShan I'm sorry you're always uncomfortable.  I'm feeling a bit like that too- there's always something.  On the upside, props to you for being laid back.  I'm truly in awe of "go with the flow" people- sooo foreign to my way of thinking and I know MY hubs wishes I was much more that way!
  • @Love4Labs326 How did the news that y'all are expecting go over with your sisters? I know you were worried about it and I have been thinking about y'all!

@SMLmom Have you tried using a neti pot or sinus cleanse bottle?  They work wonders for me!

How far along are you? 19+6

Rant/Rave/Symptoms? Rave: We have our A/S tomorrow and I am so excited to get to see baby again!  Also, I have started to really feel occasional movement over the last few days and am loving that!! Symptoms: backache/hip pain, heartburn/indigestion, some RLP.

What are you doing to prepare for baby? Thanks to @Huskerfanz, got an awesome deal on Pampers Swaddlers (11 cents per diaper) on Amazon.  DH and I really started looking around for furniture and testing out rockers/recliners/gliders for baby's room.  Also had another childbirth class last night and so far I am really enjoying it!

Questions? Are most people having 3D ultrasounds or standard black/white ultrasounds for A/S? FTM here so just curious.

GTKY: If your DH or SO were to answer this, what would they say is your most annoying trait? Impatience and my inability to be anywhere on-time (usually 5 minutes late).

My back is killing me...I can usually make it until noon until it becomes really bad. Looking forward to trying the chiropractor tomorrow!
RLP has really set in the past couple of days...I really just want to be able to feel the baby kick! I need a reminder that there's a reason for all of this! But it will come

What are you doing to prepare for baby?
Roommate is moving out this weekend, then the real planning can begin!

    Questions?
I'm curious if anyone sees a chiropractor? I know some people stop seeing theirs when they become pregnant and am hoping since this one specializes in pregnancy that it is safe, but am wondering if anyone has any personal experience!

GTKY: If your DH or SO were to answer this, what would they say is your most annoying trait?
He would probably be too sweet to say anything but I'm sure he would say my hair twirling, inability to ever make a decision (although he'll say that I always have an opinion that I don't express) or my inability to say no...or all of the above!
  • @junebabyjoy seeing a chiropractor while you are pregnant is completely safe if they are trained in handling pregnant patients.

  • @junebabyjoy I have been seeing a chiropractor, starting a couple of months ago when I was having some serious neck pain and stiffness. She has been great, and I always feel really good after my adjustments. She also gave me some exercises to improve my hip strength and posture tips to prevent lower back pain.

  • @junebabyjoy - I see a chiropractor at least once a month and have for a few years (for my neck).  Recently, I've had him start adjusting my lower back because it's been hurting.  He's changed some of my adjustments/treatments since I told him that I was pregnant, so I feel totally comfortable that he knows what he's doing.  However, his adjustments on my lower back only help for a few hours.  I think it's less of a chiropractic issue and more of an issue with how the baby is resting on my nerves.  It feels great when he cracks things back into place, but a couple hours later, if I've been sitting for a while, getting up still hurts.

I saw one when I was pregnant with DS mostly to help with headache issues.  FWIW, my labor went pretty smoothly and I wonder if part of that isn't because I was aligned.  She moved practices, though, and I haven't seen her for this pregnancy.
