Mama's who workout

Hi ladies! New to the board, 6 weeks today with #2 (after a few losses in 2015). I regularly run and attend boot camp, and this past week I noticed a lot of cramping in my groin on the right side. I think this might be round ligament pain, as it mostly just occurs during core work & burpees, but I was wondering if anyone else that works out was experiencing? Sometimes it persists after I'm done working out, but it definitely makes me back off a but during my workout!

Is 5/6 weeks too early for RLP?

Re: Mama's who workout

  • Hi @mamarunna. :) I am a FTM but was experiencing cramping on the right side during my run on Friday. I forced myself to slow down and even walked for a couple of minutes until it eased up a little. I just assumed it was the normal uterus cramping that I have been experiencing off and on since I received my BPF (just over a week ago). I am not sure about RLP and how soon is too soon but I just thought I would share that I felt something similar to you this week.

  • I recall experiencing cramping feelings while working out quite often with my daughter. My doctor recommended a support belt. Never got one but I'm told they're helpful.

  • Thank you ladies! I don't see my Dr until the 29th so I'm always worried about cramps with my previous losses. I'll just take it easy from here on out!
  • I seem to recall RLP in the 2nd trimester, but that's not to say it can't happen this early on.  I've been cutting down on planks/crunches/things that make my lower abdominals cramp because I just can't tell after working out if it's uterine cramping or post-workout muscle cramping and it makes me unsure.

  • I experience RLP pretty much from BFP on.  But this is my fourth pregnancy.  I'm not sure how early I experienced it with my first baby.  Definitely in first tri though.

  • I could've written this post word for word. I had the same cramping on my right side the day after doing lower abdominal work (this was Friday), and it worried me a little. I took it as a sign to ease off working out for a couple of days. I think I pushed myself too hard because I hadn't done anything other than walk/run for almost two weeks. It went away that night and hasn't come back so I am going to run today.

  • My OB told me that RLP doesn't really start until the 3rd tri when I had my "orientation" appointment. She said any pain in the meantime was probably my body's response to working out with all of the changes that it's going through. I don't know how accurate that is, given that previous posters are talking about experiencing RLP early on, but I also don't have any real pain to speak of, other than cramping. I do refuse to do burpees, though, ever since Navy bootcamp. No thanks! Lol.

  • I've been experiencing the same cramping, 2-3 times per day, regardless of activity levels.
