Infertility

my results.. now to decide..

cd 3 blood and u/s normal. 8 eggs on each side.. he likes to see 10 but he said its ok.. the hug results- right tube was blocked but he cleared it. Left tube blocked with hydro..He wants to have a lap surgery next month to remove the left tube :(. ( tube is filled w fluid)  Dr says possibly could get pg  ( obviously chances go down significantly ) from right tube but wants to move to IVF. I can try iui but chances are much less and multiple births more likely if it was successful. I am terrified of the surgery.. i am also terrified of the IVF..  please if anyone has info on how the surgery was.. how much work did you have to miss.. the dr said i could try the next cycle.. which would mean march. i could either try on own or do iui or ivf.. i just don't know what to do..

Re: my results.. now to decide..

  • There are lots of ladies on these board that get pregnant after having a tube removed.  The tube needs to come out, but I think your chances are still pretty decent with the one tube (doing regular intercourse).  Also, your comment is a bit mis-leading about IUI.  You should be monitored with ultrasounds before the IUI, if you over-stimulate (risking multiples), you can cancel the cycle.

  • The tube with the hydro needs to come out. It can potentially cause issues with implantation and/or miscarriage. In terms on whether to do IUI or IVF next, I think that choice is totally up to you. Obviously IVF will probably be a quicker and more successful route to getting pregnant. It's difficult with just one tube because you will only have a chance of pregnancy on the months when you ovulate from the right ovary. For a lot of people, they ovulate from each ovary on alternating months, but sometimes it doesn't work out like that (e.g., I ovulated from one of my ovaries three months in a row and not the other). This can get super frustrating. I think you just have to ask yourself how aggressive you want to be and how long you can tolerate waiting. Just my thoughts! Best of luck to you!
