Having a little freak out

So when I started letrazole quite a few days ago I spoke with the nurse who was supposed to call in my ovidrel. I have to get it shipped through my insurances specialty pharmacy. I called the pharmacy yesterday to check on the status and they said they don't carry it anymore. Wtf? But no one ever called me to tell me this. I find out I now need to go through another pharmacy. I called the clinic yesterday to make sure it gets called in and to call me. They never did. So now I don't know if I'll get my ovidrel on time. They're closed today. And I go see my RE tomorrow and probably will need to trigger that night or Monday night. Feeling really bummed.

Re: Having a little freak out

  • I meant trigger Monday night or Tuesday night.

  • That's so frustrating! I know that Freedom Fertility does overnight shipping though, so that might be an option! When was your last u/s and how big were your follies?

  • Wow. That is just awful! I wonder why they didn't call you. I know at my pharmacy if a prescription is more than $50 they won't fill it unless you call in and approve it. But they won't call me to verify. So annoying. Hopefully you'll be able to get it ovetnighted to you and you won't have to trigger until Tuesday!

  • Is there not an emergency after hours number to call? Or do you have an email address of one of the nurses! This is so time sensitive! They have to have someone you can get in touch with. I would call this emergency status and would stalk whoever I had too!! Good luck. Sorry this is happening to you!
  • Well I see the re first thing tomorrow morning so will see then. Tomorrow I check my follies. But it's never really failed that I go in for a follie check and I'm to trigger that night. I ovulate on my own too so we have been bd like crazy just in case. I would want the IUI anyway with natural ovulation anyway. I guess I will see what happens tomorrow.
  • Oh that is so frustrating!! Both times my Ovidrel was sent it was sent overnight without a problem. My doctor's office ordered it, but I'm pretty sure it was the Caremark pharmacy. I hope it works out for you, and maybe you can catch it on your own even if you don't do the shot. Best of luck!

  • Drove2u I'm so sorry, that is so frustrating!  I had a similar problem with American Freedom Fertility Pharmacy--they called me to confirm that everything was set to go and being sent--and then when I didn't receive it, I called only to find out that they had never sent it at all!  They agreed to FedEx it overnight priority that day, which arrives the next morning by 10am, and everything worked out--they picked up the extra shipping cost because of their mess up.  Maybe your pharmacy will do the same?

Also, when I was using Ovidrel as my trigger shot, I just got it through my local Walgreens (I do live in a big city, though).  Maybe your Dr. can just call in a Rx to a local pharmacy that carries it and you can pick it up?
  • Wow! I would have killed someone! Pharmacies are the dumbest most unreliable places EVER! I would talk to your doctor and see what advice they have, like where you can call or maybe a local pharmacy you could get it from. You might have to pay out of pocket, but i'd rather do that than not have it.

  • Everything worked out perfectly. Went in for my follie check and I'm ready to trigger tonight. They had a sample in the office so they gave it to me. And when I finally get mine I have to give it back to them. IUI scheduled for Wednesday. :-)
  • @Drove2u I'm so glad it worked out! I was going to say, when the pharmacy messed up my trigger delivery the doctor's office had a sample, so when I got the trigger I just "paid" them back with what was sent to me.

  • My local Walmart pharmacist refused to fill my Femara prescription because the computer system sent her an alert saying it was contraindicated in pre-menopausal women. She said she would have to call and confirm with the prescribing physician. She said she knew it was sometimes used for fertility (and the prescribing Dr. Was an OB/GYN). Duh! I said call them then! She did and apologized to me.
