Hello all!
I am 9w 2d along and have been experiencing bleeding since about Christmas. I got it checked out and was told it was due to a small separation between the placenta and uterus. I've done everything I was told to do and it continues. Anyone else experiencing this? Did you get it to stop and how? Im getting tired of being freaked out by it. Thanks.
Re: Bleeding
The doctor in the ER said to drink lots of water, limit my standing and walking (difficult as a teacher), and lay on my left side to slow/stop the bleeding. I find that when the bleeding starts (even the hemmoraghing the other night), laying on my left side does seem to help!

Hi there. I am in the same situation. I've had bleeding off and on since finding out I was pregnant in mid-December. At 5 wks + 3 d I went to the ED once to r/o an ectopic. They didn't mention anything about a bleed, but it may have been too small to see at that point, or it may have been completely unrelated. Bleeding slowly subsided after the ED visit (for about a week), then returned about a week and a half ago - with a small amount of red blood here and there, but for the most part it was scant brown spotting. Then two days ago (Sunday) I had a fair amount of red bleeding - not enough for a pad, but more than I had seen at one time so far.
I already had an OB appt scheduled for the next day (yesterday/Monday), so I decided to wait until then to discuss w/ my OB. When we did my U/S we saw an appropriately sized embryo with a "good heartbeat" (according to my OB -- he didn't give me a number). However, we also saw a bleed at the edge of my placenta. It sounded like the OB was describing a subchorionic hematoma in his explanation of what was going on. He said that is likely where the bleeding has been coming from. He said it's really small, and that these things almost always resolve on their own and cause no further problems. I go back in three weeks to see if it is resolving.
In the meantime, I'm on pelvic rest and can't do any heavy lifting or exercise. We live on the 3rd floor of a walk-up which means I have to go up six stair cases to get to my condo. I also have a 20-some pound 11 month old, so this is going to be a difficult 3 weeks. :-/
Up until last month, I was working as a Maternal/Child Health RN and *almost* all of the SCH's I saw at work didn't cause any problems except spotting or bleeding. I know there were a few times where they did cause a problem, but they tended to be very large hemorrhages/hematomas - and of the large SCHs, problems were still few and far between. I'm hoping for all of us that ours will all be just a little blip on the radar and nothing to worry about!
