Rants/Raves? I feel like my bump is starting to get in the way of my life. Like it's getting hard to get comfortable in a lot of positions. I am starting to remember how annoying it is to carry another human around on your midsection for months at a time, haha. And how relieved I felt after delivery last time when I could fit in a restaurant booth again! Oh god, what have I gotten myself into.
Dr. Apt. Updates? Uneventful trip to the midwife this week. My blood work all came back normal so far. I've been nervous about GD (runs in my immediate family so I'm high risk even though I'm under 30 and not obese) but my random glucose was perfect so she's not feeling the need to test early. Baby's heartbeat was strong. Anatomy scan this week!
GTKY: What;s your favourite winter activity? I like skating but haven't gotten around to trying it this year. Never been with my daughter before and just haven't gotten around to finding little skates that would work for her and a chair or something for her to push around.
Rants/Raves? I'm with you @Emztron500.... The mini bump is actually starting to get in the way. I had to go hunt down a stool at work so I could get my skates on yesterday before classes. The pressure when I bend over to tie my skates when on the ground is just wayyyyy too much. On the rave side, Old Navy was/is having a sale and I got a bunch of maternity clothes for really cheap.
Dr. Apt. Updates? Next appointment isn't till Feb.
GTKY: What;s your favourite winter activity? Haha!!! Ice skating....
@Emztron500 what size are DDs little feet? And where do you live, if you don't mind me asking. I have a zillion pairs of tiny skates from my niece and nephew, along with some that my students are trying to sell.
I'm with you guys! The bump is really starting to get in the way. It's actually getting difficult to bend down and put socks/shoes on and I struggle turning over in bed or when I have a full bladder in the middle of the night it's pretty uncomfortable.
Weeks? Fruit? 18 weeks tomorrow, sweet potato!
Rants/Raves: Rants: Hmmm...feeling pretty good today actually. Except that my team lost last night, but they put up a great fight! Rave: It's snowing, but only a little bit so we should still be going car shopping in a little bit, yay! Also, no work tomorrow! Going to Dave and Buster's for the first time tomorrow with BIL and SIL and eating sushi for lunch. Love long weekends.
Dr. Apt. Updates? Last Tuesday was my monthly check up but they had the blood results back to see if I was a carrier or positive for anything and everything came back negative and we found out we are having a boy! A week from Tuesday, we have the a/s and excited to see baby again!
GTKY: What's your favourite winter activity? Staying inside under a blanket watching tv or reading on my kindle. If we have a lot of snow, then watching our pup roll around in the snow and building a snowman. I'm not a huge winter person and hate the cold.

Rants/Raves? My husband has decided there is no possible way he can remain team green. I'm disappointed!! We have a boy and girl already so I wanted to be surprised this time. I'm trying to get my way- but there's obviously a huge part of me that wants to know too! Super torn! Any advise? Anyone change their minds from team green to team find out and regret it? Otherwise I feel great- about time!!
Dr. Apt. Updates? Anatomy scan and appointment on Tuesday.
GTKY: What;s your favourite winter activity? We take the kids on day trips in the winter. We live in Louisville KY so we're 2 hours from Indianapolis, 1.5 hours from Cincinnati and several other small cities. Two weekends ago we went to the Indianapolis children's museum (so fun) and this weekend we went to an indoor water park. My husband and I are NOT homebody/hobbies at home type people so we get super stir crazy.
Rants/raves: my BIL is still living in my house and driving me NUTS!!!
Dr appt updates: have our 20 week scan on Thursday and are excited to see the baby. We already know it's a BOY!
Favorite winter activities: well I hate winter and am so over it, but I love the days it's nice out and not horribly icy and the girls and I can get out of the house for walks.
Rants/Raves: Ugh. Today must be a uterus stretching day. So much pressure going on and any movement brings on some gnarly RLP. Not my fave.
Dr. Apt. Updates? My next appointment is the 28th.
GTKY: What's your favorite winter activity? I live in central California so we don't have much of a "winter." We're about an hour away from Sequoia National Park so I do enjoy going up there and sledding when we can. Obviously not this year. This year my favorite activity is being a hermit.
Rants/Raves? I fell directly on my tailbone last week and it's still super sore. I slipped on some ice that was covered with powdery snow so I didn't see it. DH took me out yesterday to finally get me proper snow boots and bending over to tie laces on multiple pairs of boots was killing me!
Dr. Apt. Updates? Next appt is in early February. Last appointment was good, but the midwife couldn't consistently find the baby's heartbeat. She would start to get it for a split second and then it would disappear. I was worried, but she said she could hear his movements over the Doppler and I've felt him moving since then so she's not concerned. She said he was probably moving around too much to get a good reading. But still next appointment I'm going to insist we keep trying until we can hear it.
GTKY: What's your favourite winter activity? I really know nothing about winter. Like I said, I just got my first pair of snow boots yesterday and I've lived in Canada for almost nine years. I just stay inside until March/April. I grew up in California so it's totally foreign to me, but one of my good friends here is determined to make me like the season so she's going to take me to build a snowman and go cross country skiing, which is fun I guess?
@veggiebabylove ugh falls on ice are the worst! hope you heal up soon. where in Canada are you living? and yes cross country skiing is fun like walking but less risk of falling and breaking yourself, haha
@veggiebabylove ugh falls on ice are the worst! hope you heal up soon. where in Canada are you living? and yes cross country skiing is fun like walking but less risk of falling and breaking yourself, haha
I'm in Southern Ontario, so it doesn't get as cold here as other areas. But it's enough for me! Every winter I think about moving back to CA.
And thanks! It's already much better than it was and the midwife has assured me baby is still well protected.
Rants/Raves? It's Monday and a holiday and I REALLY don't want to be at work. My left boob hurts REALLY REALLY bad today for some reason. I was hoping my nausea would subside by now, but nope...still going on strong.
Dr. Apt. Updates? One more week til my next appt. and 2 weeks til we find out what we're having. I'm so excited!
GTKY: What;s your favourite winter activity? I LOVE snowmobiling. My parents have a place in the mountains at the lake and they get a lot of snow and the lake freezes over...so we can ride snow mobiles all over and it's SO much fun. They crash/roll over easily so can't ride them now that I'm pregnant, boo =( I also love snow tubing.
Rants/Raves? I don't have much here. I ordered a leachco body pillow the other day and it arrives Wed. I'm really excited to try it out I've been tossing and turning a little too much lately. Hopefully it'll help.
Dr. Apt. Updates? Nothing this week. Anatomy scan on the 27th (next wed) then our regular monthly appt the next week.
GTKY: What's your favourite winter activity? Binge watch Netflix? Just kidding, kinda. We used to snowboard and snow shoe. We haven't done either for a few years but it's fun to take our son sledding now.
Rants/Raves? No rants, raves - my husband and I have made great strides on clearing out the baby's room. Today we're moving two desks and a reef tank out of the room. So excited!
Dr. Apt. Updates? Last Tuesday was my AS, baby is perfect and HE is a little boy!
GTKY: What;s your favourite winter activity? I love everything surrounding Christmas, so once that's over, I spend most of the time being a hermit. MO isn't really reliable for snowfall in January, so it's mostly just cold and overcast for three months.
Rants/Raves? Got out of breath tying my shoelaces yesterday...awesome. On the other hand, I love feeling baby kicks.
Dr. Apt. Updates? I have my anatomy scan tomorrow. We found out a long time ago that we were having a little boy, but my doc said at my last appt that he would use the better of their two ultrasound machines and go into a lot more depth as far as measurements and looking at everything so I'm excited.
GTKY: What's your favourite winter activity? Snowshoeing probably. We live about 3/4 of a mile from a super nice mountain park with lots of trails that are perfect for it. Unfortunately, I can't fit in my snow pants right now and I have never heard of maternity versions so putting this on hold until next year I guess.
