I know I haven't posted much, but I'm due 1/20 and have been following this board most of my pregnancy. I had an ultrasound done around the new year to check on baby's size since my DD was 9lb 5oz when she was born. At that time, this baby was head down and ready to go. Last week I had another ultrasound done after my doctor checked me and found no "presenting parts". Sure enough, the baby was transverse! My doctor has scheduled another ultrasound for Tuesday, right before my 40 week appointment, to see if he has moved. She originally told me she probably wouldn't let me go past 40 weeks because of the size of my first baby. So more than likely she will try to induce me Tuesday, with a possible version before that if necessary.

I guess I say all that to ask if anyone has any experience with a transverse baby being turned in a version procedure. Was it successful, painful? Were you induced immediately following? Any advice, experience, or tips to get this baby to turn would be appreciated!

    I have not had this experience, but I know two women who did. It was both unsuccessful and painful for both of them. Again, not my experience and everyone has a different pain tolerance. Wishing you the best!

    Oh, and tips to turn: there are many yoga exercises you can do! Cat/cow, hip rolls, squats can all help encourage baby to head down.

    My cousin did this and she said it was the coolest thing. It worked and she had the baby vaginally.

    My baby was breech the whole pregnancy! We tried everything and he didn't move.

    We did the version and it didn't work however I am so pleased we tried, it helped knowing we tried everything we could. My baby was 10lb and I am tiny so doctors were not surprised he didn't turn he was in a really awkward position that made even the c section delivery very awkward and difficult.

    Yes it hurt, but it was tolerable! I would go for it again in a heartbeat because I would do anything to avoid the c section. However I had my c section 12 days ago now and am surprised how much I'm already able to do.

    So yes pain, but I think a manageable level. I would definitely recommended giving it a try!

    I had one at 37w with dd. It was successful after the third attempt - and didn't hurt too bad considering I let them try the third time ;) I ended up being induced at 39w.
    My current OB does them at 39w and induces immediately after, so I assume that it works just as well if you are further along too.
    I'd say definitely worth a try if you are trying to avoid a c-section.

    Unsuccessful and very painful for me, but it was only a few minutes of actual trying to turn the baby. Chiropractor worked for me a few days later at 38 weeks.

    I had a version this pregnancy at 38 weeks as. It was successful! Very happy we tried! Now just waiting for her to make her appearance, also due Jan 20!! Id say give it a try!

    I had a version at 38 weeks that was unsuccessful but I'm glad I tired. I ended up with a c section at 39 weeks (just the other day) & there was no real indication why he turned from head down at 36 then breech at 37. Even with the c section it took a little work to get him out. For the version I had an epidural, so all I felt was the pressure of them pushing. I had bruising and soreness afterward but still glad I went through with it
    I also tried the spinning babies techniq6and chiropractor but he flipped so late that I didn't have much time to see if they would have really worked.
    He ended up being 21 inches long, so that could have been the reason he couldn't turn (I'm only 5'3 and have a short.torso)

    Thanks for all your comments and insight, ladies! Unfortunately today at my 40 week appointment we found out he is no long transverse but completely breech now! Since I'm 40 weeks tomorrow and he's probably a big baby, my doctor simply scheduled me for a c-section for Friday. I'm feeling like that's the best option at this point and am going to make the most of it. Thanks again for all your responses - good luck to you all!

    Good luck with the c section. I was terrified about having a c section but it was not as bad as I had made it out to be in my head. The first few hours were tough but it gets better. I am home now (had the c section Friday afternoon) and able to take care of the baby and myself with little pain. Luckily my husband has been amazing at taking care of baby and I when needed.
