Amount of stool per newborn diaper

How much stool constitutes a "good" diaper? Sometimes LO will have a smudge or spot, MAYBE the size of a U.S. quarter. I like to keep track of her diapers and feedings. Does such a small amount of stool "count" as a dirty diaper? Usually her stools are much bigger.

In the NICU the nurses would call those diapers a "smear" and they would not count them as a dirty diaper.

My baby gets those with every fart. I don't count them.

The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding only counts a poop that is as big as the OK sign you would make with your thumb and finger.
