Rant. Apologizing in advance

edited January 2016 in January 2016 Moms
I've posted a thousand times about this. But at this point I just need to let it all out bc my husband is at work and my mom will have a meltdown if I tell her this.

I have preeclampsia. Okay. This was determined on Monday, and my doctor told me I will be induced this weekend-Monday but no later than Monday. She tells me she's going to call Wednesday, no later than Thursday morning to tell me the date after my blood and urine tests come in. Okay so Wednesday passes, havent heard anything, no big deal. Thursday morning comes and goes... Thursday afternoon.... Still nothing so I call at 2:30 just to check the status of everything and I'm told I will get a call at the end of the day with lab results and induction date.... 4:15 - 15 minutes before the office closes - nothing. I call back again only to find out that the doctor and her nurse, the only people authorized to tell me anything have left for the day and must have forgotten me and they both already left for the day. So the receptionist tells me she left a note for the doctor and nurse and that I will hear back by 10 AM today absolutely no doubt.
Guess what??? 10:30 comes and STILL NO DAMN PHONE CALL. So I call only to be told to wait and that she will call me sometime before lunch no problem. It's now currently 1:30 PM, I have waited 2 and a half days for ANYONE to pick up the phone and tell me ANYTHING and I'm supposedly scheduled for an induction this weekend but I have no idea what day, time, literally nothing. And there are only 3 hours left. Not to mention I've had a running migraine for 3 days now and seeing floaters which, according to the on call who told me I "probably had something in my eye" and I can't even get them to answer me about that?!?!

Am I being hormonal to be pissed off MAJORLY about this?! I feel like they're totally brushing me off and im having some serious symptoms and you're doing to blow me off for not one, not two, but now going on THREE DAYS?!

Sorry for the novel... Bless y'all who read this. I'm sure it makes no sense and you've just wasted your entire day if you finished reading... I just needed to type/say those words.....

  • @wrappingmama if it weren't 45 minutes away and husband at work I totally would. If it doesn't go away tonight I'm seriously considering just showing up at the L&D
  • I would be EXTREMELY upset. That's completely ridiculous! I would call at 3:30 if you haven't heard back yet, and refuse to get off the phone till you talk to someone. Good luck!!!
  • Oh hell no...
Id call and demand you talk to them. That's super important and could harm you and your baby..

    Bring out those pregnancy hormones
  • This is not ok in the least! I was told I'd get a call with my induction time and by golly I got a call as I was turning out of the parking lot. If you can't go down there (best option) pull out your best mama bear, call them back and demand answers!
  • Wow that's super annoying and frustrating. Not okay. You have every right to be pissed off. Im all for you demanding an answer over the phone, and if that doesn't work just go to L&D.
  • I think you should go to L&D because to me, granted I'm just a pediatric nurse, it sounds like you are having complications from the Pre-E and they honestly need to get things going or at the very least admit you and monitor you.
  • Your doctor has to have an emergency contact phone number, so she/he could be contacted any time. Let receptionist know, that if they would not call you, then you would have to report them to the licensing body. Your condition is very serious and they behave like assholes
  • Holy cow, echoing PP - head to L and D as soon as you can!  I'm so sorry you've had to go through this!
  • Yep! I agree with you and PPs. Time to be the jerk on the phone and get your answer or go into L&D. The stress of them being incompetent cannot be helping your symptoms.

  • That's insane. I'd be pissed! You are not overreacting at all and I agree wth the others that it might just be best to go in.
  • Your doctors office needs to get their shit together.
Losing notes and not calling patients back especially with a serious condition as preeclampsia is not acceptable in my books.

My doctor suspected I had preeclampsia and I was sent to the hospital to be monitored. Not a go home and I'll call you to let you know what to do.
She found proteins in my urine and my sitting BP was higher than usual and off to the hospital I went. I was induced that night due to preeclampsia and low platelets.
I hope everything goes well and your delivery is safe!!! Keep us posted
  • Normal people back up their system. I cannot believe they left you hanging risking your life
  • Glad you're on your way in to be monitored and you're getting some sort of answers - keep us posted!
  • That is absurd! Glad you're heading in to be monitored. Hope the news is good and that you have a safe labor and delivery, whenever they occur!

Update. Still here. I came in with a bp of 160/111. Got it down to 120/67 and now just laying here we are back up to 141/87. Ugh. I need Krispy Kreme and a milkshake

ETA back up to 161/104. Wonderful.
  • Glad to see you are already at the hospital.
I was induced at 39w for high bp with my first, and I've had a few extra tests and monitoring here at the end of this pregnancy too. So I totally sympathize with how freaky the headaches and floaters are, and how much it sucks to be stuck to the monitors.
Best wishes for a safe and easy delivery!
  • Girl. This is almost like my situation. Just show up at the damn hospital so they can't run from you. That's annoying and I'm sorry that you are dealing with this. Keep your stress down low evern though it might seem impossible. Keep us updated please!
  • Ugh, saw the update. They need to schedule you for an induction ASAP especially if your BP is still high. That isn't safe for you and the baby. And since you have been waiting forever for them to talk to you....
  • Last update until baby time. I stayed the night here and they monitored me all through the night. We finally got my bp normal!! 116/67 was my latest! Waiting for the shift change so the dr coming on can order my nurse to give me some pitocin to start Bates' birthday!
  • I'm so happy for you and glad that your BP is under control
