Sleeping too much?

Hi everyone. My LO is usually a pretty great sleeper at night and typically sleeps 12-13 hours through, however, her naps are horrible! She averages about two 30 minute naps a day. I'm wondering if maybe she's just getting too much sleep at night? Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks so much!

  • I say be thankful she sleeps through the night. My daughter was but a week ago decided that it's time to get up around 1-3 am. Me and my husband have to be up at 5 for work and don't get to go to bed until about 10 at night. We are extremely exhausted and have no idea why she won't sleep anymore

  • I highly doubt she is going to nap more during the day if she's getting that much sleep at night. The majority of babes only need around 13 hrs in a 24 hr period at this age.

There is a common sleep regression around 10 months. Perhaps this is all it is?

  • Well she had a yeast infection and we think it was something to do with that. It's pretty much healed now and is back to sleeping around 8 hours a night. (Thank goodness)
  • Thanks! I had no idea that 13 hours in a 24 hour period is all that is needed. This would probably explain it! Now I guess I need to decide whether I should wake her up earlier or keep the current schedule.
  • Regressions are the worst! My LO has ups and downs in her night time sleep too. Her first top tooth was probably the biggest regression yet.
