What does after 12 weeks mean? 12 week 1 day or week 13?

Hello all. I got a paper from my doctor that says "Several medications are considered safe after 12 weeks of pregnancy...."

Naturally, this is week 11 for me and I am sick as a dog and really want something for the congestion. Not wanting to be on hold with the doctor's office for who knows how long, does anyone here know what they mean by "after" 12 weeks. I am 12 weeks exactly on Tuesday. Can I take something then, or do I need to wait till week 13? Thanks.

    2nd Tri starts at week 13th.  I would wait until your 12 weeks if over (ie the 2nd Tri)

    They are referring to the end of the first trimester, so 13/14 weeks. If you are concerned, find something good to do while on hold and give your doctor a call. At least for me, the safety of my baby supersedes my hatred of being on hold, I would rather double check with my doctor than take something before it was safe to.
