How would you define colicky? My son has acid reflux but he also has difficult time sleeping. He only sleeps for a hour and 1/2 at most (that is through the night and day). And he is very fussy...
Google the definition. Baby cries for 3 consecutive hours a day, 3 days a week. Maybe your baby is extra hungry and that is why it's waking constantly. When my DD is still hungry she will sleep for 20(restless) and wake back up.
He eats 3oz of formula a feeding..he has acid reflux so I think he eats a lot to soothe himself for the reflux. I guess when I can get the reflux under control maybe his sleeping will get better. Just exhausted
how old is he? Have you tried different formulas? Is he on acid reflux Meds? There are so many factors to new babies and new moms learning it's hard to figure things out. Have someone watch him while you get a few hours.
You said you feel like he's comfort eating, have you offered a pacifier? Also have they ever looked for anything like intolerance? My first had protein intolerance and it initially presented the same as reflux. He would spit up and later vomit with every feeding, especially if he wasn't constantly kept upright.
Our little guy is 4 weeks old and has reflux, too. It helps to keep him upright after feeding for at least 20 minutes, and he also sleeps with an incline of about 30-45 degrees. He gets boughts of extreme hunger, and sometimes spits up a lot after eating. He also let's us know when he's still hungry by crying, putting his hand in his mouth, and not staying asleep for longer than a few minutes. When he's fed enough, he can sleep up to four hours at a time. He'll still make grunts and arch his back while sleeping, but all of the above has helped us deal with his situation. Nothing to offer in terms of formula since our little guy is exclusively breastfed. Hang in there! It won't be forever! Like another commenter said, try to hand him over to someone for a few hours so you can get some rest.
Nope. We were prescribed something for it yesterday by the pediatrician, but are holding off on giving it to him with the hope that we can remedy his symptoms as best we can. From what I gather, reflux is so common as babies are just learning how to use their new, little bodies. I personally prefer not to give him meds unless it seems very necessary.
I definitely think my LO has colic going on. He may not scream for 3 hours straight but definitely total. I usually get about 15 minutes maximum of him being happy in between naps before he's screaming. And every time he's tired he screams. What seems to help a little bit for us is gripe water and trying our best to make sure he takes at least a 30 minute nap, even though it usually has to be on one of us. He's 6 weeks and 1 day and can only handle about an hour at a time of being awake unless out and about.

This is us exactly. 6 weeks and 2 days. If she's awake she's rarely happy even though we're now having longer stretches of it (from 5 mins to 10 to 20 ). Hoping it's a trend and this colicky phase ends soon.
I bought the Bio Gaia probiotics today in hopes it will help with the gas pains, in turn help with the inconsolable crying. It states they take a few days to work.

@mallinacashew what do you use to get him to sleep on the incline?
@laurabwalker give it three days and you'll have a new baby!!! We are on day four and can already tell. The probiotics are the way to go instead of gas drops! Thankful for my pediatrician who high suggested it. Worth every penny, too!!
@lalg28 five drops like the box said. My dr said to do this for a month and with age and good flora she should be better! It has truly made a difference and it hasn't been a week yet!
Probiotics have not really worked for us. Ellie is now crying 2-4 hours pretty much straight, and gets so upset her eyes get swollen. My husband and I have tried many different things. Anyone tried the "colic" drops? Oval I think they are called. Anything worked for colic?

I was chatting with a friend IRL on Sunday and she said she's been taking her daughter to a chiropractor. She said its made a huge difference in spitting up and if your LO is having tummy pain it might help relieve some of that.
@AnnH74 thanks for the response I have been taking her to the Chiro for cranial sacral therapy but after 4 sessions have not seen much improvement as far as helping her relax and realign, however your post reminded me to check out a physiotherapist that specializes in newborns, so I'm going to try that to see if it helps her. Babies that have birth interventions such as c sec or forceps (which my baby had) tend to have more of these colicky issues, and I feel terrible because she gets so upset and I cannot comfort her.

I hope you will find a solution and she will get some relief. It's so hard sometimes when they are uncomfortable and there's nothing we can do to help them. Good luck!!
Ask your doctor if there are other options. Maybe he has gas. I do gas drops, probiotic, and have prescription drops called hyosciamine That said it helped a ton but he still has bad days. I hope you have help. I got the Graco swing and sleeper and it helps and reclines fully. I use a fan for white noise... dim lights... give him a bath if he likes it. Coping wise... get ear plugs. Don't feel bad about it. You will care for him better if you don't go insane from his screams. Does the car work? Drive around for a while. Also see if you can take a bath or a long shower if yoy live with someone. That alone helps me alot.
@Taylovesbrad yes my mom suggested earplugs today , the issue with driving is my LO spells are at night and I'm too tired to drive getting almost zero sleep I'm just struggling in general I think
